Utah cancelling series vs BYU thread

This soap opera just needs to end. I'm not sure why the Ute coach and administration took this tack but BYU needs to ignore it and move on. Let them implode on their own.

The University president said we will be included in a rotation of Utah schools that will get to play Utah every few years. The response to that set-up should be, privately, go fuck yourself. When they want a home and home each year they can come back.

Under no circumstance should BYU ever agree to play Utah again in basketball unless the next game is in Provo and then H/H after that. And yes, a HUGE buyout clause needs to be part of the contract.

I am awestruck by the stupidity of the position taken by the Utah AD and coach. It is hard to imagine how this could be any more ridiculous. I have no idea what the real reason is but if, in fact, the coach actually complained about a specific box out from two years prior then he is a moron or a dupe or both. To most people outside of the rivalry this brouhaha will look silly but they will also start to associate BYU with dirty play. This association is unfair, but that's how the press works. At this point I don't care if BYU plays them or not. I will miss the games, as I have enjoyed attending them in the past with family and friends. But this is so stupid, so insulting and so ridiculous that I can't see any reason to pursue a game with these people until there has been an administration change.

I can't wait until BYU plays Utah again... just to watch all the BYU fans taunt the hell out of Coach Krybaby and the Ute fans.

Where did I agree with his reasoning. I said his decision was stupid. All I said is that he might be sincere in his stupid reason to cancel it. How is saying that someone is sincere agreeing with something they are doing?

We agree. Krysko is sincerely stupid.

Larry said he was "in a state of shock" after the game, so he doesn't remember telling Dave Rose "Don't worry about it" when Dave apologized.

This guy is great. He also brought coupons for two free Utah tickets to people who were attending his presser for the first time. What a weirdo.

By "state of shock", I think he meant that he was over the top out of control himself and didn't hear anything anyone said after the game.

The criticism of this is funny. BYU fans say over and over again how the Utes aren't doing anything about bad fan behavior in the rivalry. Then Utah's president says they are going to look at the rivalry and how to increase respect and improve fan behavior and then you criticize that. Make up your fucking mind what you want from us.

I'm guessing that most here interpret "we're forming a committee" to really mean "we aren't going to do a damn thing, but really want you to think we believe this is important".

Funk now believes that Krysko is a lying piece of dog crap who should never be believed no matter what he says.

In all reality - Utah could've cancelled the games, and could've even blamed it on the emotions and need for a time-out. And they even could've gotten away with it. IF - they had been smart enough to take some responsibility themselves.

Krysko could've said that he's watched the physicality increase from year to year from both teams and that this year's physicality was punctuated by Emery's punch. He could've referred to his own emotional reaction to the situation - getting into a shouting match with the opposing players. And simply said that he believes a cooling off period was in order for the sake of both teams.

But because he has done his damnedest to make sure EVERYONE knows that it is all because of BYU playing dirty and without remorse - he is just asking for people to bring up all kinds of video evidence from past games like Haws being thrown to the floor on a box out or kicked in the groin by a guy who doesn't respect people who play that way.

He's got to be an idiot to set himself up that way. Sure - Emery's punch is easy to find. But does he honestly not realize that there are a half a dozen cameras rolling at every game - not to mention anyone with a cell phone capturing video - and that there will be plenty of evidence of his players being active participants in all of this? Perhaps not throwing punches - but certainly pushing, grabbing, little elbow hits here and there, with your occasional super hard box out.

He should've just repeated what he said the first time around. Going off script and talking about hard boxouts 2 years ago is only going to lead to people going back and looking at games two years ago. And watching Utah players grab Haws by the arm and roll on him while throwing him to the ground.
