When I look at the roster and the future of BYU it seems that Jamal Aytes went from being the fellow we panted over when he first announced his transfer to the kid I think might get lost.
When he chose to transfer there was nothing in his way from being a go to kid for BYU once he became eligible. Not that he was good, but that as much of this year demonstrated we were severely undermanned in the post at both the 4 and 5. Shortly thereafter, Kyle Davis decides he wants to finish out his two years under the esteemed tutelage of Dave Rose and Mark Pope, something I can understand coming from Logan as the strange thing is kids want to play in the NCAA tourney. Now it appears that most think Kyle will be the starter for the next two years at the 4. Then Corbin Kaufusi shows up as an RM whose physical growth matched his spiritual growth for the past two years. Football ain't meant for 6'11" fellows so Corbin took his wares to the hardwood and about now that is looking like a really, really good career move. To further this sudden change of Jamaal's luck, Nate the Great Austin is likely to play next year and he is likely to get some minutes at the 4 along with backing up Kaufusi at the 5 - especially if Kaufusi develops any semblance of a consistent offensive game. These developments along with the return of Mika after next year has me wondering if Jamal is wondering what his future is as a Cougar.
If he would have Chosen the Right as a HS senior and come straight to BYU, I wonder how much things would have changed for him.
