I'd rather see Bartley play the 5 than watch another minute of Worthlessington.

      Dear Halford,

I realize you've made three shots, but you've missed seven. You' e got six assists. Stick with that.

Kafusi's defensive instincts are really disappointing. I don't see him ever being even as good as-gulp--Chris Miles as a help defender. I hope he proves me wrong.

interesting stat: 97 total points scored, 95 of them by guards. only 2 points from our bigs on a night when Worthington, Isaac, and Corb all logged mins. What would our record be if we had one big that played mostly like a big?? i guess Corb is starting to grow into that role.

I was just saying that I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be completely jealous of Portland's bigs.

Long travel day yesterday so I crashed right at tipoff. This is an amazing yet frustrating stat to wake up to.

I still have hope for him. I think he has made incredible strides already. Considering the fact that he didn't play his senior year in high school, is a recently returned missionary regaining his athleticism after growing 4 inches, and the growth he has already shown makes me remain excited about his potential.

Chris Miles was not good. The fact that you liked him speaks to how bad BYU's bigs have been over the years.

You mean the fact he rarely comes over to help and when he does he is about 3 seconds too late and tries to swat the ball in to the third row. His court awareness is really poor.

Yes. He is the post player that every guard loves to play against. A guy who rarely blocks shots but thinks he can block everything and is more than happy to leave his feet at the worst possible times. Also, he has decent ups, so when he leaves his feet, he's gone for a while. And he has a slow, if not non-existent, second jump. The entire second half last night was an absolute clinic in how not to play interior post defense. It got so bad Rose had to pull Kafusi and hope Gumby nikuman was more effective.

But, but, Blaine Fowler keeps telling me he's an "unbelievable" and an "elite" athlete.

He has no second jump because he has to gather himself for the initial jump. Which is why he can never keep the ball high on the pick and roll. He always has to power dribble to get lift and brings it down to get swiped at.

Don't get me started on Luke who can't even make an effing layup.

I am pretty sure that the guy on the team with the most blocks coming over to help on D is KC. He has had a few impressive ones.

I have actually been a little encouraged by CK's play on offense lately. He still isn't any good, but is significantly better than he was 10 games ago. Still no post moves worth a darn, but decent aggression and court vision. I like some of the passes he has made out of the post lately (as opposed to Luke, who has made, if I remember correctly, a total of one pass out of the post that hasn't basically been a lob reset). This makes me think that Corbin has the chance of moving up to "servicable" by the end of the year, and "solid" within a year or two. Having said that, are his hops really that good? For a guy who is 6'10" with a good wingspan (I think?), he doesn't seem to be that far above the rim when he throws it down. Maybe my view is distorted by watching too much blurry basketball on BYUTV.

He has an above-average vert for someone 6'10". Which makes him an elite athlete by BYU big standards (and therefore Blaine Fowler's standards). It seems like it would be so easy for someone 6'10" with good ups to dunk everything, but dunking is something you have to learn, and dunking in traffic takes real talent and can't really be fine-tuned in practice. Some very athletic guys never learn how to do it, despite all the the tools. I don't expect Kafusi, a formerly 6'6" player, to become a proficient dunker until his junior year, and I don't expect him to ever become a fantastic dunker.
