I sure wish I'd followed this counsel."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Saturday is going to be a killer. I feel pretty good about Oregon over Oklahoma, but I've used Oregon. The Villanova v Kansas game is a coin flip. Villanova hits from three, they probably win, if not, Kansas is too good and will take it.Originally posted by Parrot Head View PostFor the games that don't feature the 1-seed, which way are people on here leaning today?
I say Notre Dame and the Zags, with more conviction in the latter because I'm not sure which Irish team shows up.I'm like LeBron James.

I am hoping the 10 of you others all pick ND or Syracuse and I don't have to worry about Saturday.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostSaturday is going to be a killer. I feel pretty good about Oregon over Oklahoma, but I've used Oregon. The Villanova v Kansas game is a coin flip.

For me it was a combo of Miami looking really good in the blowout win vs. Utah and Villanova historically bowing out in the tournament. I had no idea that Archigicocomo would not miss.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostHa. I admit that when I saw your pick, that was the first thing that came to my mind."They're good. Going into selection Sunday, I was hoping for this as a potential Final Four or championship match-up. It should be a good game.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostThe Villanova v Kansas game is a coin flip."What are you prepared to do?" - Jimmy Malone

No it isn't a symbol of racism because black people allegedly eat fried chicken than other other ethnic groups. It is racist because of its use in the historical depiction of blacks.Originally posted by Eddie View PostSo - not to climb back into the weeds...
But I'm curious now.
Fried chicken is a racism symbol because Black people eat fried chicken more frequently than non-Black people? (allegedly)
Does that mean that burritos, Navajo tacos, curry, and other ethnic foods are all symbols of racism as well?

At the start of the tourney, I thought the Final Four was going to be Oklahoma, Kansas, UNC and Michigan State with Kansas playing Michigan State for the championship. I didn't really know who I was going to pick between the two.Originally posted by Joe Public View PostGoing into selection Sunday, I was hoping for this as a potential Final Four or championship match-up. Oregon looked really good yesterday, so that OK v. OR game is going to be interesting. But that happens with Duke teams sometimes. Coach K sometimes has the athletes like he had last year and those late 90s-early 00s teams with Maggette, Brand, Battier, Williams etc, but then he has those teams that lacks athletes like this year and Oregon exposed them last night. I think Ingram is a really good player, however.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I still think it's silly. The reality is that if you look hard enough and far enough, it's really easy to find something to be offended about. Time to just let it pass. Not worth the energy.
I was talking to a Black dude not too long ago. Somehow the subject got to food, and after discussing a few restaurants and favorite dishes he decided he was hungry. He told me he was going to go pick up some Chicken. I mentioned liking the sandwiches at Chick-fil-A. His response was "I'm Black. We don't eat that stuff. We like our chicken fried."
I don't see how taking offense at stuff like that helps. Some folks are naive. Others are downright rude. Some will be offended for a small thing. Other's won't be offended though the slight is much larger. And some folks who offend may not know to what degree they do so. It isn't worth the energy.

This was neither the point nor the basis for the earlier discussion. I agree with OG's implicit suggestion that we stick with bball in this thread.Originally posted by Eddie View PostGotcha. Day 6 picks:
Knockout Day 6.JPG
If Iowa State and Syracuse both won tonight, there would be a 11-way tie. Also, while Syracuse is a pretty huge underdog, if you were actually calculating the probabilities of winning the knockout challenge at this point, I'd be curious to know if picking Syracuse tonight wouldn't have been a more statistically-sound choice by anyone who picked Gonzaga (since a Syracuse win would knock out 6 people). I wish we knew a statistical guy who could figure that out.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
