Depends on the type of lawyer. I like my tax attorney. He's great; he saves me money fair and square. He's one of the smartest people I've ever known and also really nice.

My personal attorney also litigates. I don't really like talking with him much. My NY-based attorney is someone who puts the fear of god in men but I've wondered how miserable his life might actually be?

My dad's an attorney who's difficult, but he was born that way.

      I don't know either.

This season is the culmination of the past decade in which we basically just say "Aw fuck it", burn the unstable, radioactive building to the ground, call in the environmental clean up crew, and start over.
He does seem to be very adept at fulfilling this aspect of his job description.

Things started turning bad under Majerus. He started recruiting guys from Thermopolis, WY, that left even the Wyoming coaches scratching their heads.

There were also the sanctions against the program (some might say they were more severe than what has been reported) which, I believe, led Hill to put some pretty severe limitations on head basketball coaches.

Then there were the hires themselves. Giacoletti's best recruits were Bogut and Jackson, both of whom he re-recruited but were originally Majerus recruits.

Giacoletti had a nervous breakdown. No lie. So, he had to go.

Boylen. No need to say anything more. Another miss. Another stretch of poor recruiting.

K? Remains to be seen. Maybe he'll turn it around. I'd love him to be a McBride/Steve Cleveland for the Utah basketball program. I'm not looking for a Krchevwqwerjpski here. Just a guy to get us back to respectable.

I think somewhere in the mix of all this is that Hill actually believed what he said: "Great coaches don't come to Utah, they are made at Utah." Well, that is bull shit. You need to pay great coaches to coach at your school. The bargain basement shopping isn't cutting it. I believe he became convinced that he was a king maker...that he could identify diamonds in the coaching rough and they would blossom while at Utah. I think he got arrogant. Arrogant and cheap.

One more failed coach and I think the booster and fans will have Hill's head on a platter.

My apologies for sinking to SU's level. He can judge my character with a pretty broad brush based on my profession; I think he's entitled to the same treatment.

I don't get this comment. BYU did not fire Cleveland and I think most BYU fans from that era recognize what a great job Cleveland did, despite his JC resume that UofUtah fans readily ridiculed. Coach Cleve's tenure is probably not that well known by more recent fans. Those were heady days, the Fine Young Men, Jake Shoff's nimble drives down the lane, Rafa's tats and killer elbows, and beating Utah with our lesser talent and JC coach.

            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

He seems to have a high basketball IQ and really I do like the staff he has: strong local ties (Parrish), Utah Men (Connor), and strong AAU connections (Slocum), all with lots of experience. Plus, it should be easier to recruit to Utah than it used to be what with guaranteed games against UCLA and Arizona, as well as a strong TV contract. Time will tell. I say he needs at least 5 years as long as things look like they are progressing. If not, hopefully that will get us enough time to develop a war chest to go after an impact coach who can turn things around immediately.
One thing I like about Krysko is that you can tell what he is trying to do and the plan seems to make sense. The jury is still out on whether he'll succeed. I agree, he has 4-5 years.

                  Pretzel logic:

Top Ute: "I promise I wouldn't ever be hating Crean as an Indiana fan because he coached Marquette to the Final Four."

But within three years after Majerus coached Utah to within a whisker of a national championship, TopUte was posting that he should be fired.

Now instead of keeping his head down and eating the big plate of crow that events have served him, TopUte continues to smear Majerus, making up lurid stories abut him.

Funny. Seems to me that McBride gets tons of credit, some of it undeserved. He is if anything overrated in our history.

Many Utefans have complicated relationships with their coaches. They need someone who they imagine would be fun to have a beer with, and who would be willing to take them to a ball game. Winning is secondary to these Utefans.

                        1. I will give you $1 million U.S. if you can find a post on Utefans prior to April 1, 2002 -- I'm even giving you an extra year -- where I called for Majerus to be fired. That's how confident I am in saying you're an absolute liar when you make this shit up.

                        2. And what stories have I made up about Majerus? Everything I've said about his departure at USC has been of a purely speculative nature, and I've said as much.
