USF is in damage control. They had a bunch of egg on their face after the Masiello debacle. The last thing they wanted was to be publicly turned down making the job look less desirable and start looking for a third HC. This is why they upped the ante last night and increased their offer. Then when Rice used that to leverage a better deal for himself at UNLV, USF pulls their offer before Rice can turn them down officially and then they spin some more by having "sources" tell a few folks he never had an offer. Except that he did. It's just like when the Utes were looking for Boylen's replacement and people tried to say that Randy Bennett never had an offer.

According to USA Today he didn't get a raise, but an incentive package that could give extra compensation. So essentially if he stops being a poor mans Ernie Kent, he can make more money.

Why do you hate Rice? I admit he has done nothing post season, but his recruiting class are great.

I wager this next year he does well. Here in Vegas, it is rumored he received a substantial raise.

No way. Stanford maybe, Oregon has only been to the tourney in back to back years 3 times. They are growing, and I like what they are doing but Oregon is in the infancy of being a ball school if they can get there. UNLV is a bonified power.

I say Oregon only for the level of financial support. It's inevitable that they will become a power barring a major scandal.
