But to see Seattle humiliated so very perfectly, on this thread, I had to stop by and give a hand.

Blueintheface, should we ever meet, I owe you a beer or a root beer or whatever you want.

    Thank you.
Stop by more often. If I'm Seattle Ute's toadie, I don't do a very good job as I rarely fall in line with him. However, it is nice to have another anti-Boylenite on the site to talk shit about Boylen with. There are far too many anti-Boylenite's in the Ute fanbase. The guy that destroyed Ute basketball deserves more criticism.

Does this man from Manis hold public office? He seems to make Romney look like a paragon of permanency.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

I can't forgive Big Rick because he never did anything that warrants forgiveness. The bigger question is can Big Rick forgive the Utes for the improper way he was treated.

I'm starting to believe that the problem with Ute basketball is the curse of the Maji. Until we retire the sweater, we will continue to suffer. Hill needs to swallow his pride and honor the man that made Ute basketball great in the modern era. Contrary to Dr. Hill's opinion, Majerus made Ute basketball great, not Dr. Hill.

We tried making ammends with Jim McMahon. Look what that got us.

Its cute that you think Utah hoops started with Majerus.

Its cuter how you flip flop on every Ute coach how you're for them and against them. You're like the Mitt Romney of this board. Whatever position is currently the correct one to have you'll have it.

Watch yourself around MP Funk, if he says he's your friend, you're about to get a knife in the back.

The ones who ought to be embarrassed are the easily bought apologists who wanted to ride the Boylen comet clear to oblivion. Next season we'd have been where we are now with none of the terrific recruits and transfers K already has brought.

Haven't you noticed? I'm the self-designated apologist for all the new coaches. As I've said in the Chris Hill thread, I've always assumed a good hire until proven otherwise. And I'm a fair person. I always do my part to trying to give them time and room to succeed. I'm doing it even now for K, even though I don't know any better than Chris Hill how this will turn out. Likewise,I've always been a defender of Whit, Meyer, and big Rick.

I lost faith in Boylen the season before last after all the transfers. I said then he has NO room for error. I could see that he'd add no new blood, and what had just happened would have catastrophic consequences if not dramatically reversed

Hey Funk, anyone who thinks RM was "run out" of Utah or treated badly is operating from a deficit of information. (How's that for a subtle rebuke?) He is a flawed genius (like many genuises) and his flaws caught up with him. I wish like crazy that the Big Rick of 1989-98 were still coaching at the U. I do think the sweater will someday be retired, but not until after Hill retires.

The bottom line, there's something rotten about how USC went down, and how it made Majerus poison among ADs. That Majerus continues to pull his mother's health card for his reasons for walking away from USC leads me to believe that there's something lurking out there that he agreed to be quiet about. If you really believe that line, you probably also believe he left Utah for good because of "health reasons" too.

Don't know why there is so much Fat Guy chat lately, but what interesting timing. For some odd reason, just this past week the LAT ran a story about Maj. I guess he gave an interview revisiting the USC thing. He once again detailed how his mom was going to die or was dying and she didn't want him so far away even though he offered to buy her a home in SoCal.

Regardless of the veracity of the story, I was puzzled why it popped up at all this past week.

Is there a reason for the recent interest in this guy all over again?

I would guess because he finally appears to have a really good team at SLU and his old team has morphed into the worst program in the country.

                              Good point.

Here is the LAT story, in case anyone wants to re-read the same explanation yet again. Apparently, Maj thought he could win a national championship at SC.

Marc Jackson's mom once told me she thought Rick suffered some kind of mental breakdown at the end of his stint at Utan and that he was legitimately mentally ill.

That was a good piece in the LA Times. I wonder what Rick would say about the state of the Utah program.
