  • Ute Hoops Schedule

Even Rick Majerus called and made fun of Larry for how easy that pre-season is. WOW.

Figure somewhere around 6 pre-season wins and possibly 2 Pac -12 wins so I would guess we're looking at 8 Ute hoop wins this year.

You're full of crap, we're hoping to get 8 wins so we can get back to suck.

However Stew Morrill did call Larry to compliment Larry on his scheduling philosophy.

Stew was in awe, saying he didn't think someone could put together a worse OCC, but Larry did it.

You do realize that we are in a much better conference now and scheduling tough out of conference games isn't as important. Also, you do realize that playing some easy games may help build some confidence.

I guess we can all look on the bright side though, if we had Boylen as a coach we could pencil in a home loss to San Diego Christian College.

Actually if we had Boylen as coach we'd have had a good team instead of what Larry could hold together after blowing off all the parents of the players he had.

As for that schedule, you can't possibly defend it. There isn't even one team worth wasting time on. Hell even Majerus would give us one team.

Its pathetic and indefensible. And its not going to help to have crappy wins come conference time.

I remember how Boylen was going to have a good team last year and how much improvement we were going to show after Boylen blew everything up. That sure worked out great. I have every reason to believe that you would be right again and that Boylen would have a good team had he just been given the chance. He proved he really is a great coach with that shared conference championship (in a weak year) and a first round beatdown by a 12 seed in the tournament.

As always we get to ignore all the injuries from last year not to mention what Boylen himself went thru in the middle of the season (which makes you an extra large piece of crap for slandering him).

It makes your lies seem real.

I have no clue what Boylen went through last year. I hope that whatever he went through is resolved and that he does well in his personal life. He did poorly in his professional life and firing him was appropriate.

I understand that whatever this personally thing is that it may have affected his job performance last year. However, he had already established the year prior that he wasn't up for the job and that he wasn't a good head coach.

Even with the injuries, it isn't like anyone on that team showed improvement over the year. I get it you will defend his poor coaching to the death and nit pick every little thing that Krysto does because you are a Boylen fan first and a Ute fan second.

No amount of injuries can explain the San Diego loss.

So according to Funk Rick majerus should have been fired after 1994 because that one season proved he couldn't coach.

                      Good to know.

Rick Majerus did a very good job coaching that year and with Van Horn we knew the program would recover pretty quickly.

You're acting surprised at this. I've been saying for months the schedule would be dummied down like no other. If we didn't have obligations to finish deals with Boise, Fresno and Portland, plus our in-state commitments, I guarantee you we easily could have done worse. We essentially had five NC games to fill -- none of whom had an RPI higher than 250 and a non-D1 in SDCC.

Last year's NC schedule didn't need to be that much better, given the presence of four games against RPI top 10 teams in the MWC. Of course, that's a view made in hindsight, but a schedule is still a schedule, and last year's ranks among one of the toughest played at Utah in the last 25 years.

That's the one unqualified positive from Jimmy's time at Utah. The man clearly made the effort to schedule up from his predecessors.
