Who lasts longer in the NBA: Jimmer or Kemba?

IIRC, Beau Archibald was a RS frosh on that team, no? I didn't realize he got canned last year as a fall guy with another assistant when Calhoun got busted.Originally posted by CJF View PostOk, I do remember Khalid. He was my inspiration. I meant comparing Jimmer's gaudy stats to Kemba's and concluding Jimmer superior doesn't make any sense. Ute logic = not agreeing with BYU homers. Guilty as charged.
Prior to the tourney BYU was RPI #5, Connecticut #14. Kemba was by far the most important player on the team. Only one other teammate averaged double figures in pts
UConn Road through the Big East (RPI):
Georgetown (13) / Pitt / (10) / Syracuse (19) / Louisville (17)
Through the NCAAs:
Cincinnatti (32) / SDSU (3) / Arizona (18) / Kentucky (6) / Butler (34)
Do any of you really think Jimmer and BYU could have beaten these teams sequentially? Do you think Jimmer could beat Walker's 25+ points average in that stretch?

Yes to that but obviously BYU does not win all those games...they didn't even beat Florida. I do think that if you switch places with Jimmer and Kemba that the results would be similar and that Jimmer would have been on the NCAA championship team.Originally posted by SportUTE View PostI meant comparing Jimmer's gaudy stats to Kemba's and concluding Jimmer superior doesn't make any sense. No.
Yes.Originally posted by SportUTE View PostDo you think Jimmer could beat Walker's 25+ points average in that stretch?Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

To answer both questions yes, it was most definitely possible. If BYU had not suspended Davis and if Emery's or Abuo's shot was falling then that BYU team could have hung with and beaten anyone. When Jimmer was given space he could score on anyone at will, the only thing that kept him from doing that against Florida was the fact that his supporting cast couldn't support.Originally posted by SportUTE View PostUConn Road through the Big East (RPI):

I don't think BYU could have won those games, but it's not because of Jimmer. It's because guys like Logan Magnuson were getting significant playing time. What you fail to grasp is that UConn's roster outside of Kemba Walker was much, much better than BYU's supporting cast outside of Jimmer.Originally posted by SportUTE View PostI meant comparing Jimmer's gaudy stats to Kemba's and concluding Jimmer superior doesn't make any sense. BTW, I do think Jimmer could beat Walker's 25+ point average in that stretch. Look what he did against BYU's best opponents this year.
Florida- 32 points
Gonzaga- 34 points
SDSU part 3- 40 points
SDSU part 2- 25 points
UNLV part 2- 29 points
SDSU part 1- 43 points
UNLV part 1- 39 points
UCLA- 25 points
Arizona- 33 pointsPart of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Jimmer would have matched Kemba's average easily. And he would have shot a higher percentage to boot.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostI don't think BYU could have won those games, but it's not because of Jimmer. I don't know how it will all play out, but I still hurt about Davies' HC incident. That game against SDSU in San Diego was the best BYU basketball team I have seen in my life and likely the best ever. I was sooooo amped for the rest of the season....Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostI don't think BYU could have won those games, but it's not because of Jimmer. BYU was really peaking and putting it all together. Go all out on Jimmer and we kill you elsewhere, don't go all out on Jimmer and he kills you. It was still a great year but what could have been?Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!
