  • Who lasts longer in the NBA: Jimmer or Kemba?

    And why?

I really think Jimmer will have a longer career than Kemba Walker. Shot, strength, smarts, work ethic...all spell to me a longevity in the NBA for Jimmer.

    OK I'll say it. Kemba.

Calhoun does a better job of getting guys into the NBA and the Big East has a lot more similarities to the NBA than the Mountain West does.

I think Jimmer is a great player but he would not have the stats this past year if he played for a Big East team.

Stat comparisons are almost useless. Kemba has a national title AND a Big East tourney title winning five games over five days.

Jimmer got swept by New Mexico and didn't win the MWC tourney.

Yeah, but let's even up the unmentioned x factor of teammates here... Jimmer w/ 4 NBA players on the floor >>> Kemba w/ 4 NBA players on the floor.

I think Kemba will have a longer career than Jimmer, but could go either way.

Stats are meaningless but the outcome of a couple games out of a college career largely dictated by surrounding cast is important? Good to see Ute logic is still consistent...

Jammer has at least one desirable elite skill and that will land him a roster spot longer than Kemba
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                Jimmer
                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

To me, Walker has the same concerns that Jimmer has. Maybe even more so...

Walker's PG skills are questionable. When UConn made their run, it was by Calhoon deciding to play Napier at the PG position and putting Kemba off the ball.

I would give the edge to Jimmer because Jimmer has one Elite skill while I don't see Kemba as having one.

I think Jimmer's range is a huge commodity and that alone will allow him a roster spot somewhere for a very long time. I think it entirely possible that Jimmer draws an active roster paycheck longer but that Kemba has the better career.

I also think Kemba is the higher risk. I don't forsee Jimmer flopping simply because of that range. The ability to hit open jumpers out to 30 feet is something NBA teams can use. Kemba might be a better all around player than Jimmer but he does not have one particular attribute that far exceeds other NBA players, however the Jimmer does.

Projecting how players will do at the next level is next to impossible. It's the reason half the lottery picks become busts. You can say someone project top five will have a better NBA career than a second round pick, with some degree of confidence. Anything more specific than that, and anyone's guess is as good as another.

Kemba has that rare explosiveness you see in the elite NBA playmakers but is undersized. Jimmer has the shooting, the ball moves, and the work ethic but lacks the athleticism. Who knows.

Khalid el-Amin. He was the short, fat PG for UConn when they won with Voshkul and Rip Hamilton.
