    Larry Krystkowiak and the 2011-12 Utah Utes

    Early signs indicate that Will Clyburn and 2011 signee George Matthews will return to the team next year, along with senior David Foster and junior Jason Washburn. I expect we'll find out in the next week or two if J.J. O'Brien, Dominique Lee (two players that would help), Josh Watkins, and Chris Kupets (not quite as vital) stick around or decide to seek other opportunities.

    The only thing I expect from the season is to finish with more wins than we did in 2010-11, and with all that returning experience I think it's possible.

      I would become angry when people would say that the 2010-11 team didn't have any talent. Talent was there(not BYU, SDSU levels), but it was poorly utilized, poorly coached, and failed because of coaching.

      Add some decent coaching to the team last year and they are an 18-19 win team. If the core pieces return, we should be .500(given the upgrade in competition), but look much better playing the game.

      Where are you hearing that about Clyburn?

      Matthews was great news as he has some years to add to the program. O;Brien is a nice piece to have return, but I think Matthews would fill his spot if he leaves. Lee is an unknown.

      I would hope that DiMaria is gone and Kupets as well. Need to see if Guiot can be a player.

          Apparently he wrote to someone on facebook that he will return, but he's adamant about redshirting next year. It's somewhat possible Krystko allows him to do so, rather than having him transfer and sit out somewhere else. But that could easily change.

              I don't mind the idea of him redshirting. It would lower the # of recruits that we will need to pick up in the next cycle. It would allow our classes to gain a little more balance. And it would help him learn and develop better.

              Next year is going to have some pain, but him coming back in 2012-13 with Washburn, O'Brien, Matthews, (and hopefully Olsen) will be a good core of players.

                  Why in the world would he be so adamant about redshirting? I don't get it. If you're gonna stay, stay and play. If you are gonna take a year off, transfer.

                      He wanted to Redshirt this year. He felt that he needed to get bigger/stronger, and learn more about basketball. But Boylen needed him for his last stand.

                                      Does this call into question the rest of the info in this thread? It is clear that Clyburn does not want to play for Rose so I say Utah is better off without him. Adios!

                                          Clyburn would have left anyway. This is the easy explanation. Just more debris of the boylen blow up. Good riddence to boylen. Can't blame will for leaving; we fired Boylen, some players who were on this team will be pushed out next season; Will can fire us.

                                              That is too bad. I like Clyburn. He was fun to watch and I think he is a good guy. With that said, I understand him wanting to play closer to home. With Clyburn, I thought the Utes had a chance to have a decent season...without him, it will be rough. But, I would prefer to lose him over OBrien. I really want OBrien to stick around.

                                              Boylen is still causing trouble with our program even when he is no longer an employee. (Shakes fist at Boylen!)

                                                          Yeah, JJ O'Brien is big. Rivals says Matthews is still solid in his commitment, but we'll see.

                                                          The number of players Boylen inherited or recruited that have left the program is astronomical.
