Doggone engineers. Worse than lawyers at nit-picking. Man....

You're looking at the trees. The "forest" of my post (and a lush, beautiful one it is) is that theses things are cyclical, and dire predictions about long-term program malaise are silly. That's why I like to delight junkie so much with my "we're doomed" jabs.

But since this thread is about Dave Rose, I'll just add how much I enjoyed listening to the one Rose post-game interview I've ever heard. Very refreshing. Good guy.

How dare you bring this back to topic!

Based on the ESPN scroll at the bottom of my screen Coach Rice is now the head coach at UNLV.

What part of "After Boylen, Utah could not hire an assistant as head coach this time no matter how highly-recommended he comes" do you guys not understand?

What part of "why not?" do you guys not understand? Seriously, what good did hiring krystko do, RIGHT NOW. They might as well have hired a former assistant. I don't get why the reasoning. At all.

I don't like the Krysto hire, but he does have a substantially better resume than Rice. Also, here is another reason that Utah couldn't consider Rice, because his dream job is right down I-15 and became available while Utah was looking at coaches.

It's embarrassing how in love you are with Dave Rice.

Rose and Rice are good coaches, but Jimmer returning for his SR season made all three of them some good money.

This brilliant logic is what led to Mark Gottfried and Larry Krystkowiak being the two finalists.

Could you Ute Fans take this over to the Koach Kryst thread, please? I don't care for the vibe your discussion is putting off. We are dealing with the loss of Coach Rice, but at the same time rejoicing at his job elevation and the addition of another blossom to the abundantly filled BYU Coaching Tree.
                        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Your compadres brought it up. I like Rice a lot. Under different circumstances I would have rooted for him to get the Utah job, but it looks like his heart may have always been in Las Vegas.

I love Dave Rice Rose. Where else have his assistants gone? (Serious question, I don't follow that stuff.)

Dave Rose is only 6 years from being an assistant himiself.

In his 6 years as head coach, Rose has placed two of his assistants at other MWC schools as Head Coaches.

                              Pretty darn good ratio.

I suspect you're probably talking about Rose at the end there. I was thinking more collectively, including coaches in all sports that have found their genesis at BYU. I hope Rice becomes a fixture in Las Vegas.
