I admittedly overstated things. I was speaking more towards the position that he will be playing. Nash is a terrible defender and yet is a two time MVP. Derrick Rose is equally terrible despite being athletically gifted and is a favorite to win the MVP this year."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Defense is a team concept in the NBA. Since you can't hand check anymore, perimeter defense is about help and recovery, rotations, and funneling guys you can't stay in front of to the help. Locking guys down on the perimeter mano y mano went away with the NBA of the early 90s.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI'll disagree with your NBA analysis. Just read through that, and Bissinger was way off base. The entire premise of his article is that the Jimmer phenomenon is related to his future in the NBA. That the hype comes because everyone wants him to be the next white American NBA star, and he supports this with evidence that experts aren't terribly high on his NBA future, so all that's left backing the hype is the fact that he's white.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostThat was painful. However, the Jimmer phenomenon has never been related to his NBA future, but rather to his college present. He has been an electrifying college scorer, and people have enjoyed him for what that means now, in the college game. Nobody has projected him as the next Bird or Mullin -- hell, as an NBA prospect he hasn't even been considered half of what guys like Adam Morrison were. Jimmer has always been a ho-hum NBA prospect, but that's not what has captivated the country.Last edited by MarkGrace; 03-25-2011, 01:51 PM.So Russell...what do you love about music? All this time I thought it was Michael Jordan that was driving the ratings through the roof for the NBA back in the 90s.Originally posted by TTCoug View PostThe Jimmer has been ordained as pro basketball's next white comet. Come to find out, it was all John Stockton. You learn something new every day.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Is it confirmed that its TJ's account? Some people have been faking TJ lately.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostNot sure if anyone follows TJ on twitter, however his recent tweet is pretty funny. Begging Kevin Durrant for a shoutout because he is "Jimmer's brother and an inspiring rapper" I asked if he meant aspiring.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

In Reilly's defense, nothing he said is really that outrageous. Jimmer has been a ton of fun to watch, but he has been fun to watch because he played on a team with no supporting cast and has had the green light to take ridiculous shots. It's not like Jimmer was the only player in college basketball that was able to make the shots he made, it's just that he was the only one that was allowed to take those shots.
While Jimmer has been entertaining, the truth is that Jimmer has not shot a good percentage since the first half of the season, has consistently played out of control, and is not a great ball handler. He has a vault full of highlight shots and has been fun to watch, but he does have several holes in his game.Last edited by Non Sequitur; 03-26-2011, 06:32 PM."The mind is not a boomerang. He took some legitimate criticisms of his game and took them to ridiculous proportions. Fredette is the best college player this year by a pretty big margin, but it isn't like he is a player without flaws. Pointing out those flaws is fine, but overblowing them like Reilly did made for a bad article.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostIn Reilly's defense, nothing he said is really that outrageous.
