I didn't see the rawness in his game. He was knocking down outside shots. His post moves looked pretty polished. He has a fairly solid body. I don't know if he's a legit 6'9, maybe more like 6'7ish. So that's the only concern I have about him playing the 5.
If JT leaves I think he will play and probably play a lot. If JT stays I just wonder if there is enough minutes for Davies to justify not using a redshirt. Miles and JT will be returning starters. I think Anderson will develop into a solid back up for next year capable of going 20 minutes if neccesary. I also still maintain that Hartsock will begin showing folks next year why I am so bully for him. Methinks BYU finds a JC 4/5 to take MacGregor's scholie who can be the emergency player at either position.

I also think that Rose wants and needs a 5 that is athletic and can run as his primary starter. I am not yet convinced that Anderson is much more than a role player at BYU. I think he has some great offensive skills and I think his defense and rebounding will improve in time, but he just doesn't have that athletic ability that makes an up and down the court offense go. My read, without ever seeing Davies play, is that he is far more capable of defending the post and playing with his back to the hoop than Hartsock. So I see Davies as a 5 at BYU and Hartsock being the heir apparant to JT at the 4.

I will say this, if he doesn't redshirt next year it is a huge indicator that he kid is likely pretty damn good.

Lee, Jimmer, JT, Emery we need 2 of those 4 to have 18-20 point games and a third to chip in 12-14.
Of those four, I think JT has the greatest ability to disrupt the flow of the team when he is off, mostly because he has kept shooting when he was cold. And it seems like the colder he got, the more crazy the shots he put up. Jimmer runs a distant second.

Now, Rose's little talk may have reeled in JT's proclivities as of late. Last night might be evidence of that. But I remain concerned.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I think JT might stay because I think he will be moved to the 3 next year. I expect he will relish the chance to show his ability at the proper position and will stay around. I also think he gets plays run for him next year and the lure of that will be more than he can take. This year's increase in athleticism has made him a viable 3.

I think this change will affect a lot of positions. Noah, who I love as much as Goat does, will see starting time at the 4. Emery and Fredette will be starters at the 1 and 2. Miles at the 5. I expect Rose likes the flexibility of being able to go small and shift JT back to the 4 and put in Lamont, Michael Lloyd, or Abuou off the bench and shift up or down accordingly depending on who's on the floor or playing well. I like next year's team's flexibility and I think Rose does too.

I doubt Rose moves JT to the 3. He doesn't want the decrease in athleticism. I expect Abouo or Haws to start at the 3.

I think JT has increased his athleticism enough to make the move to 3. Haws is not substantially more athletic than JT, imho.
