Clear lane to the basket that he was so slow getting through his finger roll was sent in to the 17th row and a half court heave at the buzzer to end the first half.

That finger roll that got sent into the stands was hilarious. It was Martineau's skills in a nutshell. Whenever Jimmer sits down, KC should be playing the point. Martineau should never see the floor. Anderson brings more to the table than Martineau out there.

I think Zylstra is in the same category as Martineau. He is 6-17 from three this year and I am guessing 9 of those 11 misses did not even draw iron. He had a wide open three in rythm tonight that went over the rim and hit the bottom of the backboard. He is awful.

Amen. Not to mention, those 17 threes are probably the only stats he has on the season. He doesn't defend, pass or rebound and can't put the ball on the floor. He basically stands at the 3-point line and shoots it if somebody gives it to him.

BYU wins at Weber State. Cougars already beat Utah State. In-state games in Utah are tough rivalry games, always have been for BYU and Utah.

You are forgetting his defense. Which game were we watching where zylstra gave up a bunch of 3s, almost in a row, chuck came in and immediately shut the guy down. I want to say Utah state.
              Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Zylstra should not be back next year. He is terrible. He is a guy that has the basketball IQ of Forrest Gump. I expect BYU to be out of sync with C. Collinsworth coming back and getting minutes and Hartsock stilling seeing stars from the MMA beatdown he took against Arizona. You can see he is a little tentative out there.

I am not worried about Emery. He will get going as he gets healthier. My biggest concern is Charles Abouo. That dude just is really inconsistent with his game. As long as he plays lock down D I am ok with him missing some shots but he didn't show up aganst UcLA at all.

Hartsock had a huge strawberry mark on the left side of his face along his jawline down into his neck at the UCLA game.

The team feels very unsynchy with C Collinsworth in there.

Abouo's the biggest mystery and the area for biggest upside right now. Davies is starting to play like the player I expected. Davies-Hartsock-C Collins is not the most imposing 4-5 group you'll find, but they're adequate. We're just not getting any production from that 3 spot. Abouo's a head case. At the end of last season, he was stealing Haws' minutes. This team would be much better with either Haws or end of last season Abouo right now. He should have improved a lot with his summer experience and being given the confidence of the starting role. Now he's screwed it up, his confidence is shot, and he's playing like an idiot doing dumb stuff he's never done before. Bad passes, poor shot selection, fumbling easy shots. I don't get it.

Two thoughts. First, you're all beating up on a kid who played 3 minutes. Sad. Second, this was not a good show for BYU. I didn't realize Weber's Big Sky MVP matchup for Jimmer is injured.

For whatever reason I think he is confused in what he wants his role to be. I am sure Rose has communicated what he expects out of him but I don't know why it isn't sinking in. It seems like he is pressing to be more than what this team needs him to be which is a lockdown defender, strong rebounder and slashing scorer. He does not need to be a guy that creates for others and he does not need to be a three point shooter.

The Utes can take them at the JHC.

Agreed it was not a good outing for BYU. This team is still a work in progress. Hopefully by the time they get in to MWC play in a couple weeks they will be playing a little better. Over the course of 30 games there are going to ups and downs. It is the nature of basketball. Hopefully this team can peak at the right time because they clearly not peaking now.

This must be the weakest stand you've ever taken on Utes vs Cougs in your building.
