Lost in all this talk is the implied assumption that Boylen is gone. Is this the case?

Has any Ute fan retained hope that he will remain past next season? Are Ute fans expecting a bloody baptism in the PAC next year?

Also, is there a likelihood that Boylen is gonzo after this season?

PS what will happen to BoylenOver if Boylen gets axed? Will he change his moniker?

It is way too early to determine if Boylen sticks around. If the Utes finish 5th and look like a better team than last year and the players appear to have improved from the beginning of the year, I think he sticks around. If the Utes finish 7th and regress for the remainder of the year, then I think he is gone.

The talent is much better this year than last...now I am interested to see how they improve and grow during this season. If there is little improvement, I don't see how they keep him.

In regards to BoylenOver. If Boylen is gone, he would probably just change his name to: BoylensOver

Rose ain't happening, and no Urban Meyer-Rick Majerus wonderboy comes to mind right now.

I liked Mike Dunlap then. Still like him. The problem is he's like Boylen -- one of a dozen garden-variety candidates that'd be thrilled to take the job. How do you go about sepearating the Rose's from the Boylen's of the world?

BO began as "GiaccedUp" or something like that I believe, he'll adapt.

Dave Rice is an interesting choice that I could see Utah going after.

I don't see why it's such an absurd idea to think Rose would at least listen to Utah. The ceiling at Utah is much higher. That cannot be debated. He also knows Utah will never throw its hoops program under the bus for the perceived betterment of another program. That also is not up for debate. He wouldn't have to move his family. And Rose, at least publicly, has never cloaked himself in the robe of zealotry like another high-profile BYU coach. He's a BYU guy, but I don't think anyone looks at Rose and says he's the guy to be here for the next 20 years, either.

I think the assumption is more about Boylen not being the man long-term, and that eventually he will have to go. I don't think it will happen after this season; there has clearly been a good-faith effort to improve, and the program has done that.

The flip side is, as I've said before, is that Boylen did such a crater job on the program last year, improvement is real easy to come by when the bar has been set as low as it was last year.

Part of giving Boylen a fair shake in turning things around is giving him two years with a lot of players who are only going to be around for the next two years. If 2011-12 doesn't result in anything markedly better over .500, you bring in a new coach and let him rebuild from the ground up immediately.

Utah is in the same position that Minnesota is in except in reverse. Meaning Minnesota has a great basketball coach in Tubby Smith and can't seem to get it right when it comes to football having just hired some backwoods country bumpkin named Jerry Kill.

I myself like Boylen but it is apparent that his players do not. He hasn't been able to recruit Utah since he has been there and I think Utah is close to getting surpassed by Weber State as the 3rd best program in Utah.

That wasn't the question he asked.

Also, what makes you so sure those subjects aren't debatable? Your statements seem like bare assertions to me. Is there any real evidence to back them up? I don't think you can really even answer those questions in the first place.
