http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/1346218.htmlPayton Dastrup had a change of heart.
Last week the four-star big man out of Mesa (Ariz.) Mountain View committed to Thad Matta and Ohio State. Shortly after his pledge, Dastrup changed his mind. He now plans to play his college basketball for the school he grew up following -- BYU.
“I just felt more comfortable with BYU,” Dastrup told Scout.com. “After I did commit, two days following I wasn’t miserable, but there was something missing. That’s why I changed.”
“I grew up following BYU sports as a young kid,” the 6-foot-10, 230-pound big man added.” I wanted to play football, but when football fell through I had hopes and aspirations of playing basketball there.”
To go with the interest from BYU and Ohio State, Dastrup also considered Florida and Virginia.
“I just really wanted to see all my options,” Dastrup said. “That’s why I narrowed it to the four that I did. I did commit to Ohio State, but it felt like I wasn’t true to myself.
“I felt confident with Ohio State,” he added. “They are a great program and their staff is awesome and they will do great things, but for me personally I just felt like with my past and for me to be successful BYU is the place for me.
BYU now has two four-star prospects in their 2014 recruiting class. Dastrup joins the No. 14 point guard in the class T.J. Haws, as well as Jake Toolson, Dalton Nixon and Ryan Andrus to make up their current recruiting class.
Dastrup, who is signing with BYU today, is Scout.com’s No. 18 center and is regarded as a four-star prospect.
That's two pretty stellar classes in a row. Too bad the mission thing is going to interrupt all this.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

The WCC has really hurt BYU's recruiting, apparently.Originally posted by MarkGrace View Posthttp://scouthoops.scout.com/2/1346218.html

The guys at 247sports.com are talking about recruiting on twitter. Jerry Meyer who runs the site (son of the great Don Meyer) has been really high on Kansas freshman pg Frank Mason for the last 3 years. I mean he has been praising this kid like no other. He just sent out this tweet on Mason:
His colleague responds with this:Never forget 1st time seeing Frank Mason w my former teammate @OneGoodThing. Mesmerized by his competitiveness & lateral athleticism
They have also ranked BYUs recruiting class 22nd in the nation.@jerrymeyer247 I'll never forget it, either. I would've taken Frank Mason and T.J. Haws in my backcourt that weekend and left the rest.*Banned*

I love TJ Haws. I've watched highlights for all the big names BYU has signed in the last couple years and he's been my favorite. Love his game.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostSo Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
