So why hasn't Duke made an offer to Frank Jackson yet?

Is it because they've already offered to about 7 guys in his class who still haven't committed who are rated ahead of him?

I think if it's because Coach K's waiting to see what the higher rated guys for 2016 decide to do first, it would seem clear to me that he has no intention of waiting for 2018 for Frank to play for him. Because otherwise it doesn't really matter.

Just remembering that still pisses me off. I've of the opinion that anytime someone blatantly harms another player via an unexpected cheap shot like that, the dude perpetrating the cheap shot should get to sit out as many games as the player that they injured. I think it would cut down on some of the dumb stuff - and I could see it being applied across multiple sports. I understand that it would lead to all kinds of problems as far as trying to determine intent, was it a result of a normal play or even a normal hard foul that was aimed at stopping a basket and not harming a player, etc. But when the emotional side of me takes charge, I want their to be serious consequences for punks on the court. Maybe even criminal charges for something as dumb as what Edgarson did.

I can see it now. BYU is in the Tourney at a pivotal point when Nate Austin gets an untimley fourth foul five minutes into the game, when in steps Hamson, holding the opposing center to no points on four blocks and becomes the hero of the Tribe. Coug fans alike start dreaming of him becoming the next Shawn Bradley and rapture ensues.
BYU fans have rapture over imagining a one season wonder who shows some upside, sets a few block records, promises to return and lead the team to the final 4, and then never wears the Y uniform again? Not me. I'm hoping he plays well for 4 years!

BYU is recruiting this 6-5 SG from the class of 2017. From Hawaii, just moved to Utah. Will be a junior at Bingham HS this year.

You know if we step back and look at this thing with a bit of objectivity, he's right in a way- I mean what could a basketball scholarship to Duke offer a young man besides an elite education, the best coach in college history, a real shot at an NC (not an imaginary one that most schools vaunt), and a clear path to the NBA? When you take those things away, I'm sure Utah does have things Duke doesn't....short drive to Snowbird, temple square, the Pie pizza, etc. Give the guy a break!

Duke just officially offered Frank Jackson. I think Coach Krewjewooski just likes to torment us.

It has been interesting to see this develop. If the chatter we read is correct it appears that the family is moving towards/moved towards the decision to not have Frank take a mission trip. That really illuminates how easy it is for nobodies to be noble, virtuous and faithful. Back when they didn't think a one and done deal was feasible I believe they were very outspoken about priesthood responsibilities and whatnot. Now that the financial reality of the asset that Frank's future has become such decisions get significantly more murkier. It is much more difficult to wear your noble faithfulness on your sleeve when there are real life sacrifices, perhaps very large ones, to be made and not the made up kind that most of us willingly pretended existed.

Agree with what you are saying. Besides losing the two years from a physical aspect, the competitive toughness can sometimes take a hit.

I read on CB that Mangum is back off his mission and speaking at a CC meeting along with Bronco. Mangum declared football is no longer a top priority. Crap.

Mangum has only been home a month or two. He could recover that drive. Don't give up so easily. It seems to me that Taysom Hill recovered his intensity.

Right. Every individual is different. There are plenty of examples of RM's at BYU, both football and basketball who played their guts out after coming home. Yes, there have been a few who lose the drive as well.
