Makes sense. I don't really follow any particular college team so I don't ever look at these things. Just thought it was odd when I looked at the links.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

    • So do we have to go back to Meads for our last top 50 recruit? Wow, and we're getting 3-5 over the next two years.

Future's so bright, you go to wear

I really doubt Meads was top 50 or even close. State of Utah teams almost never get top 50 recruits. I'm sure Britton Johnsen was Majerus' only one. You may have to go back to Michael Smith. He definitely was one.

But plenty of top 50s don't live up to their promise. Utah's got one this year.

        • Top 50s who went to Utah schools before this year (after 1970):

          Mike Sojourner
          Ticky Burden
          Vranes
          Ainge
          Durrant
          Michael Smith
          Bradley
          B. Johnsen
          Dotson

          • According to what? ESPN?

Surfah said Garner was in the 30s on a big recruiting site at the time. Kid played in the McD's AA game so he had to be fairly high. This whole discussion already took place just a couple pages back.

if he played the MDAA game he was defintely top 50. I stand corrected.

                    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                    • Wasn't Van Horn a top 50? Seems like it was a big deal when he signed.

NO. Not top 50. Absolutely not. He was recruited by Arizona State and I think USC.

It was ASU and Cal. Van Horn was considered a nice get but he was not as hyped as Britton Johnsen.
I don't like the star system or even the number system for ranking recruits. I look at how many schools offered and how hard they were recruited. Brandon Jessie was looked at as a nice get out of the juco ranks. Nick Jacobson well thought of also. Majerus had an eye for talent but he also kicked BYU's ass at recruiting head to head.

Don't forget Silas Mills! He was a big time get. Now he's a legend in the PhillipinoNBA.

Something like that (I think it was a former player). The NCAA declared that he only had a year of eligibility left if he went to the U but two years anywhere else. He ended up playing another year at JC and then a year at Utah State.
