  • BYU basketball 2025 Offseason

Here is the dedicated thread about portal comings and goings as KY builds his roster for next season.

As of right now Catchings and Crawford have entered the portal. BYU has a commitment from Diamonde from Washington out of the portal.

Current scholarship roster players with eligibility to return next year are:

    Egor Demin
    Dallin Hall
    Richie Saunders
    Dawson Baker
    Kozlowski
    Keita
    Boscovich
    Mboup

    High School recruits
    AJ Dybantsa
    Xavon Staton

That leaves 2-4 more scholarships available depending on if BYU has 13 or 15 scholarship players next season.

    Exciting times!

Hey, we don't need an off-season thread. We need a next season thread.

I disagree. Need an offseason thread until the roster is complete. Cleaner this way. Then we dive into next season.

Haha. I like it. Bring on 2025 BYU basketball!

Losing Catchings & Crawford demonstrates the quality of the program and players under KY.

Maybe they will bring in a ball handler who doesn’t play how Hall did against Alabama. I was hoping Crawford would stick around and turn into a significant contributor, but it appears the odds of that are low now with his entering the portal.

Hall is a good back up. They may bring in a PG but I hope that PG is comfortable with not playing a great deal until the 26-27 season. I am expecting Egor to return for another season and I think Hall will as well.

But IMO, BYU has itself a fabulous HC so I am pretty convinced whatever happens will be the right thing and BYU will have a great season next year.

Egor staying would make for an even more exciting next season. I don’t think it’s as far-fetched as it seemed at the beginning of last season.

Lee Cummard has been hired as the Women's Coach. He seems to have a good relationship with Delaney Gibb, which is good for her sticking around. She has a very good relationship with Demin. Maybe she can convince him to stay. If they both stay that would be great.

The first sentence of your post had me wondering if it was in the right thread.

Bumping this for the departure of Airball Hall. The language makes it seem like he isn’t considering a return to BYU like last year.

He said a year ago that he came back because Coach Young told him he could make Hall’s “dreams of being a pro a reality.” Maybe Hall feels he can better pursue that somewhere else, but he saw the floor a lot this past season (even though he came off of the bench).

Hall entering the portal may be because he thinks Egor really is staying one more year.

                            That’s a price I’m willing to pay.

Hall would be gone after next year either way, so eventually the coaching staff will have to figure out how to retain someone like Crawford who isn’t expected to leave early for the draft. Continuity is both in high demand and short supply in the current portal/NIL era.

And because we are picking up that guy from Purdue.
