I’m in the camp that I’d like the church to use its funds to get better basketball and football talent at its flagship university. If the church has $100b then spend it on BYU sports instead of lame “I’m a Mormon” ads. We should be outbidding Alabama for QBs every year."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I fully authorize them to use all the tithing I paid over the years of my membership on an NIL deal for someone. It won't be enough to get an elite hoopster, but for sure they could land a two star punter for football. Depth, am I right?Originally posted by Moliere View PostI’m in the camp that I’d like the church to use its funds to get better basketball and football talent at its flagship university. Just on interest it comes out to around $25 million a day, they could devote one day for the bb team, two days for the football team and really make a splash out there. That may be the end for a few members if they learned where it was going but the widow's mite isn't going to win you any games anyway.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI’m in the camp that I’d like the church to use its funds to get better basketball and football talent at its flagship university. The sportswashing aspect alone is worth every penny. One good season in a real conference and BYU was cool here in FarNorCal. Nothing about treatment of gays, nothing about polygamy, just "that's a fun basketball team." That's worth a lot of money.

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Funny all the continued talk on cb about whether or not Jaxson R took himself out of the draft. Well, the deadline passed and nothing from him or anyone else saying he's going back to college. Doesn't that definitively say he's still in for the draft and is choosing to pursue professional options now and not to enroll in grad school? Why the need to make an extra announcement that nothing is changing from the status quo?
