  • Boylen as a replacement for Izzo?

By no means do I follow the Utes like some of the Cougars on here, but, seriously? An AP writer throws out Boylen as a possible replacement for Izzo? Do I even have to ask if Boylen's body of work warrants being thrown into the conversation of such a promotion?

Utah Utes basketball: Jim Boylen a possible successor if Izzo leaves
I have nothing else to say at this time.

As a head coach he has not done anything that would make him a candidate, but his connections in the area and being part of that coaching tree makes him a viable option.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I dont think there is any worry about him replacing Izzo but Izzo might want him on his staff in Cleveland. That is the only possibility I can see.

That would be interesting and would certainly speak to how interested Boylen is in coaching in the NBA.

The Utes should hope he takes another job.

Per ESPN, Izzo rejected the Cleveland offer, so Boylen will be staying for awhile.

                Yes!
                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

This is a "make or break" year for Boylen.

Boylen has 2-years left at Utah. Utah either had to fire him this year or give him the opportunity to fix the mess at Utah and that requires giving him 2 seasons. If he doesn't perform in year 2, he is out.

Then we can hire a big name coach.

We are going to be a more attractive destination for a coach in the PAC-10 that is for sure.
