He has an outright MWC title in the MVC? I would say the fact that he can win a MOuntain West title in a different conference makes him a homerun.

You're a total joke. Every Ute fan would have done a naked dance for joy if we'd gotten this guy, you included. Unless you're saying that someone Oregon is in someway a better basketball program than Utah, this one was a home run.

Why don't you stick to the facts? I didn't say he was a bad hire. But he is demonstrably not a home run hire. Everyone in this thread including HFN agrees with that. The man has won ONE outright conference title in 20 years of head coaching. He has never won a second round NCAA playoff game. His winning percentage is 62%, which is not great.

If a Utah coach did only as much in 20 years I'd want him out of the program a long time ago. Apparently he was fired at Kansas State.

Eh, it's a vanilla, bland hire. Nothing to get very excited or depressed about.

I know they aren't identical, but this reminds me a little bit of the Mark Turgeon hire. TAMU fans were wanting someone a little more high-profile after losing Gillespie. He has worked out well for them, however.

They have similar resumes in the MVC. I think it's a good hire.

Altman's a great coach. Creighton fans seem to have caught a bit of the Utah.

He's an established good coach. He's yet to prove himself great.
