This is a good description of what I feel watching every one of your howdy doody pasty faced Utah county kids hipity hopitying down the court in their blue BYU. BYU basketball is about as annoying as it gets in sports.

some people were worried robbie was going to transfer to the U for his final year . he was a nice player, better than the average BYU guard but he was not as hyped or sought after as Haws.

Not true. The Reids were both much more highly recruited than Haws has been. The very best programs recruited them. This article doesn't say it but Robbie also played in at least one of those HS all-star games.

The problem was that while Roger Reid had many virtues he wasn't very charming. He was a very tough guy to like.

thanks for digging up an old church news article, why won't you admit Haws was a good get?

He's a good recruit. Utah wanted him. He's not a great prospect, in the true sense of the word. As a PROSPECT, he's not in the class of Devin Durrant, Utah County's best ever, or even the Reids.

He played a year or two at BYU and then went on a mission. When he came home his father was long gone and he transferred to Michigan.

i know that, he also considered the U. before choosing Michigan. Had he gone to the U. he would have had only one season to play. It would have been just to get back at BYU

My earlier post was grapevinish, for that i apologize

He's no Daniel Deane, but he will make an impact

OK, now I see what you are saying. I vaguely remember that.

So he's not stupid. More reason to like the guy.

Robbie was more laid-back than Randy. Especially when the mike was on. Randy seemed overly intense. Kind of like his old man. He gave a talk once about his recruiting trip to Duke (yes SU, a Utah County kid was recruited to Duke) and how he resisted the temptation of the world by signing with BYU. He made Duke sound like the devil's playground while BYU was a haven of righteousness. Very awkward.

Yeah, weird. Unhealthy moral atmosphere at Duke? no way!
                      Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I think the Davies kid from what I have read (have not seen either play) may be a better prospect. He certainly had better offers Arizona, Cal, Gonzaga.

On Sportsbeat last night they showed him pulling a JR Rider and throwing it down after going through his legs in warmups.

At 6'9 that is some serious athleticism. Also at the Provo vs Orem game, Jim Boylen himself was there trying to recruit this crappy Utah County talent.

Way, dude. God's chosen people sign with BYU.

Apparently the whole family felt that way about Duke. Witness what happened when the Burgess kid sided with the devil(s).

Another little tidbit, both Randy and Robbie have Harvard MBAs.
