I'm not complaining about any of the coaching--offense, defense, or rebounding. I just think if defense and rebounding are areas you could make a better case against the coaches. I think without Haws we're actually a better rebounding team because you see Abouo and Tav at the three a lot. Abouo's the best rebounder on the team on a per minute basis. I'm actually not too concerned if Haws can play or not. Abouo and Loyd getting his minutes we probably don't drop off much. Haws is more skilled offensively, but that's not a weakness.

Abouo averages 9.7 reb per 40 minutes of PT. Haws: 6.5. IMHO, you see it the most obvious when we go in zone. Abouo in the zone as the 3 = adequate rebounding team. Haws in the zone as the 3 = bad rebounding team.

As for the fact that we score a lot--that's the reason I really can't bag on Rose's offense even though I just don't get it. Results are results, and we score a lot. Still, I like USU's offense better. And UNLV's and the Jazz's etc.

Another thing Charles does that is hard to see on TV (at least I didn't appreciate how good he is at it until I watched him live) is how good a close out defender he is. He is able to sag off and help prevent the post pass and close out to the 3 point arc amazing quick. Most corner threes are shot on the opposite side. With that said Tyler's gives Jimmer another person than Jackson to look for when he penetrates. Abouo or Loyd can shoot the three but neither of them is the threat to either shoot the three or take two dribbles past a closing defender for the pull up jumper Haws is. Bottom line: BYU is a better team when Rose can utilize all his weapons.

Agree on all counts. I've paused the TV a couple times to show my kids an Abouo close out.
