BYU just got a monkey off of their back. They will play very carefree and loose in round 2. I picked KSU and I expect the Wildcats to beat BYU, but I think BYU will play better in round 2.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

It's kind of embarrassing how drained I feel after that game. When the game was 28-21 Florida, I was already in defeatist mode but then verily, the Archangel Michael did descend from the clouds and restored my faith. Two more times during the game I was about to launch a shoe at the Samsung, but MLJr came through again. Praise be unto him. He saved me a new TV and probably a triple bypass.

I like this about Loyd, as well. When he has the ball, it is his world. If he thinks it is best to give it to Jimmer (or anyone else), he will. But he isn't going to pass it to Jimmer just to defer to him.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostI hope I didn't sound like I was saying to bench Fredette for Loyd. BYU needs Fredette because he makes the other team work so hard to try to slow him down a bit.
I like that Loyd doesn't care that he's on the floor with Fredette. He seems to be thinking "yeah, Jimmer is on the floor, but I'm taking the ball to the hoop." Loyd looks like he's the only player on the team that doesn't look to Fredette to save the day.
Both Loyd and Jimmer were the only two that would consistently attack the basket. And look who shot all the FTs for BYU.
Davies is a big concern right now. He is young, but he played really young. Stupid And-1s that should have just been fouls, and passing up that 2 footer makes me wonder whether he scared or nervous.
Emery can't take 3/4 of a game to figure out a way to be productive.
I thought Haws did well, esp given his busted eye.
Jimmer and Loyd aren't going to catch anyone by surprise on Saturday. The cat is now out of the bag. The rest of the team needs to step up.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I used to get down and bummed when BYU teams were behind, but I have seen them pull so many of these out over the years, that I don't get too worried.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostIt's kind of embarrassing how drained I feel after that game. Jimmer and Loyd are going to be an awesome offensive backcourt next season.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI like this about Loyd, as well. When he has the ball, it is his world. It will make us pretty small on defense, but I'm still looking forward to it.

Not condition, but the mental game....it definitely is a big plus. This team just gutted out a 2OT win under tremendous perssure with the entire country watching. They could have easily lost at the end of each period. But they stayed composed.Originally posted by shoganai View PostAt this point in the season, an extra ten minutes is not going to make or break your stamina one way or the other - especially with a full day of rest in between.
I predict one of two things will happen on Saturday. Either we'll have a bunch of high fives and "'atta boys!" Then procede to pack it in and get beat pretty convincingly. Or...
...the team will play with the pressure gone and the monkey of their backs and have a shot to win.
I predict they will come out loose in Round 2.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Great win for the Cougs as Florida was the better team.

Biggest plays in that game:
Emerys 3 at the end of regulation
Boynton dribbling the ball off of his foot with Florida up 4 and the ball that lead to a Loyd fastbreak and 2 made free throws.
BYUs defense on the final possession in the first OT.
Jimmer Fredettes huge back to back 3s.
Brandon Davies in a 4 point game and Florida with the ball sells out to deny an entry pass in to the post.
Awesome game my heart rate is up, I think had about 4 minor heart attacks. On to Saturday!*Banned*

This was the play to me as Florida had just corralled an offensive board and passed it out to burn some clock and reset the offense.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostBiggest plays in that game:

I'm just happy that we've never heard that comment in this rivalry.

It's not surprising it took a game like that for 17 years of misery to end. Nice job Cougs.
I'm guessing it will require a similar effort for Utah to exorcise the GD Kentucky demons."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay
