Fredette is a great player, but I'm going to say that if Loyd wasn't on the team, Florida would have won this one. That kid is a heckuva player.

Overtime counts. An overtime game that turns into a cover like that is either awesome or really, really sucks (for those who took Florida +4.5, for example).

Congrats on the win. It would have been funny to see BYU choke another one away and the subsequent meltdown, but on the other hand it is nice to see the BYU fans that I'm friends with finally get to enjoy a tourny win.

Florida missing that shot at the end of regulation was a tender mercy, as they say. That was a great shot that really should have gone in.

Loyd is fun to watch. Splitting time for Loyd AND Jimmer is definitely a nice problem to have.

Florida stayed in that game only due to their offensive rebounding. They had a great game plan as they knew their bigs were taller and more athletic. Whenever a shot went up they had 2 or 3 guys crashing the boards. If BYU pulls down a couple of those they have some really open fastbreaks but unfortunately BYU never pulled one down. Good game plan by Donovan.

All good things must come to an end. Congrats Cougs on finally getting a win in the NCAA. Now the question is, how long until the next one?

As noted early in the season, this team learned some valuable lessons about digging deep and pulling out victories. That paid off today, with several opportunities to mentally check out...giving up double digit lead, end of regulation, Jimmer's untimely turnover, end of first OT, missed FTs in the second OT.

Of course, playing against New Mexico in the biggest conference game in MWC/WAC history also helped prepare them mentally.

This is a fun team to watch.

So does that count as covering the spread? It seems like it should count as a zero pt win.

I thought that, generally, the spread only applied to the score at the end of regulation.

At this point in the season, an extra ten minutes is not going to make or break your stamina one way or the other - especially with a full day of rest in between.

I predict one of two things will happen on Saturday. Either we'll have a bunch of high fives and "'atta boys!" Then procede to pack it in and get beat pretty convincingly. Or...

...the team will play with the pressure gone and the monkey of their backs and have a shot to win.
