The Utah win doubly hurts BYU.

    1) UNLV has a very good chance of dropping to a 4 seed in the MWC tournament, meaning a probable semifinal matchup with the Cougars. Then even if BYU does win, UNLV may be playing themself out of the NCAAs

    2) This will ensure a large rowdy crowd for BYU-Utah. This may have happened anyways, but a loss, especially a blowout would have likely kept many of the fence sitters home. Before last night I felt 80% sure BYU would win out the regular season, now with 3 tough games left I feel 50-50 about the prospect.

Utah matches up so well with UNLV it is really unbelievable. UNLV is a team that slashes and gets to the bucket. They are really a poor 3 pt shooting team (except for 1 game against BYU). When you have a 7'3 behemoth in the middle it really takes you out of your element. Which forces UNLV to rely on the outside shot which is not their strength at all.

The loss of Matt Shaw who is their best 3pt shoooter (45%) definitely didnt help.

This really is not attendance smack. Curiosity mainly. I watched the end of the Utah-UNLV game. I was shocked at the empty seats. I googled and one score said attendance was 9,122. Based on what I saw on TV, it looked less than half full. Is the 9,122 accurate?

Which is why it was a mistake for BYU to not recruit Foster. He was well worth a scholarship, if only to help you beat UNLV.

They did recruit him. Dave Rose has admitted that, however BYU did not have a schollie available at the time for him. BYU had two schollies available one went to Noah Hartsock and the other to Jordan Cameron. Both higher rated than Foster who was a project at the time (and still is). Hartsock has been very solid and Cameron is now playing tight end for USC. So in hindsight they would have been better off giving Camerons schollie to Foster.

I have no idea what the attendance was, but because attendance is usually counted by every team as tickets sold rather than persons in a seat, it wouldn't be a surprise if it was less.

Of course, it's tough to really get an idea of what attendance is on tv. When the seating surrounds the floor as it does in most places, it can look more empty than it really is.

I don't think attendance is counted the same everywhere. BYU uses bar codes now at the gate and they only count people that walk through the doors, for example.

According to ESPN the past two years you guys have only recruited two kids who have any business in a DI program. Granted they are "high mid-major," but only two! Utah has seven high mid-major. I think you have a 1-26 record in your near future.

Don't bother to cite Rivals. Rivals is not grading hardly anybody at all, except for top 100.

                    The Utes will win.

LOL. Keep using what works for your argument. This is college basketball two good years of recruiting should reflect something positive, whats happening with Utah then? Also two bad years of recruiting should really hurt a program seems to not had any effect on BYU.

Don't worry, you should finish just above .500 this year. It'll get better. It's just got to, right?

Simply having anyone besides Drca at the point will lead to improvement(I would even throw a year older Tavita into that generalization)

This year's kids are still in high school. He's only been recruiting for three years.

So he should have 2 recruiting classes of his already in the program, correct?

2 years in college basketball is similar to 4 in college football. What does he have to show for it?

An ulcer? A dropoff this year was expected but not as precipitous as it has been. No way to spin that other than to suggest recruiting hasn't been up to snuff. It'll work itself out though. If the 3 new recruits he has coming in next year turn out to be Tavita, Tillie, and Cyphers II then he'll have his answer. I personally think they will be an improvement over the current crop HE RECRUITED so maybe he's gotten better.
