  • Poor, poor Jim Boylen

if it wasn't for bad luck, he would have no luck at all.

Wonder if he will be smart enough to invest the same time and resources into the next blue chipper out of Utah County as he did the last?

Timing can be a real bitch sometimes.

In case Seattle isn't aware, the #2 recruit for BYU next year is a proud LDS African-American all state wing from South Carolina. I believe this venue discussed his situation last week.

That is right, athletic mormon boys. Pasty white ones from Provo and black ones from the SE. You see many are joining our happy throng!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

      No you aren't.

Speaks volumes about the troubles we've been having. Utah's instate recruits have all been three star studs and disappointed in this group. We'll see about Tavita.

If you look back at Utah's basketball tradition, with the exception of Danny Vranesa and Jeff Judkins (who are cousins and share a similar gene pool), Utah players have generally not been the biggest stars. They've been some superb role players, but not the ones who went into the NBA, etc. No, I haven't forgotten about Alex Jensen. Add him if you want (even though on the best Utah teams with him he was indubitably a role player). If Utah were limited to instate recruits its basketball tradtion would be like football pre-1994. Meanwhile, Utah has held its own recruiting the most sought after in-state players; most of them have not lived up to expectations.

All of Rose's recruits this year are in-state, btw.

Cleveland started out recruiting Majerus for the top instate kids after he got BYU back to the NIT. Is Marc Jackson the last good instate recruit Utah got?

What are you smoking? Two years ago Grimm and Kepkay were the best playes in the state. BYU's best players recruited by either Rose or Cleveland have been out of staters, without exception. Whatever in-staters BYU recruited, whether or not BYU was truly out-recruiting Utah in-state, were far far less important than players from out of state. The way things have gone the last ten years I'd be happy to cede the whole friggin state of Utah to BYU if Boylen can recruit well in places like Dallas. How'd Garner Meads do?

One thing also that SU is not taking in to consideration is the fact that basketball talent in the state of Utah has never been better. On occassion a mid-tier Pac-10 school would recruit Utah talent, but never an ACC school. Now we have UCLA and Wake giving kids offers.

Charles Abouo, Tyler Haws, Brandon Davies, Chris Collinsworth, Kyle Collinsworth, are all probably top 10 in terms of how heavily they have been recruited. Along with Garner Meads, Jesse Pinegar and Britton Johnsen.

I'm waiting to see how they do at the next level.

Keplay was a 1 star and Grim was a 3 star. Chris Collinsworth was also a 3 star.

Well Abouo starts for Utah right now, and Collinsworth would have started for Utah last year. Collinsworth is what you think Tillie is.
