UNLV is the best team in the MWC. It won by 12 in the Pit, BYU lost there. It has proved to be the stronger team in head to heads with BYU.

We've seen BYU's high water mark. Emotion and love of coach only takes you so far. Also, BYu has basically devolved into a one man team.

Amazing. You put out a really good post. Then you insist on posting again proving it was a fluke.

They are tied for 1st place. BYU has its hardest remaining games at home, UNLV still has to play at SDSU.

I take little solace in any of this, given the state of my beloved Ute basketball team. All we can do now is possibly be a spoiler for BYU or UNLV, as both still have to visit the Hunstman Center.

BYU will lose in Salt Lake. It's a perfect psychological set up for us.

UNLV has BYU's number at the T&M. I sure would like to get them again in the conference tourney because I think it will be a totally different game. UNLV was just lights out in the first half and BYU let it get in their heads contributing to large lead. I hate UNLV basketball (even though I like Lon Kruger as a coach). Maybe the Lobos can reutrn UNLV the favor and beat them at home. I will find solace in the fact that every team in the conference considers BYU their biggest rival in both basketball and football because let's face it, we are the team to beat.

While UNLV might not be making 3s at will, they will play physical D. BYU's lack of a good inside game will allow UNLV to extend the D, getting in the face and man handling BYU's perimeter players. In the conference tournament they can feed off the crowd to get back into the game should they get down, see the 2007 conference tournament. That said I agree with you, I'd love to get the UNLV monkey off the back.

I think Haws has hit the freshman slump. It usually happens about this time of year for every freshman. Even John Wall went through a bit of a slump. Hopefully Haws gets a second wind. I'm a little more worried about Emery. He did this last year too. I thought it was just mission legs, but is there a chance that all the defense he is playing is costing his legs when jump shooting. He may just not have the energy for a full season.

I think Abouo needs to get more playing time. He's playing with the most energy right now. Hartsock and Tav are getting burned pretty bad on defense. Hartsock's offensive slump has lasted over a month now.

I agree that Haws looks like he has hit a wall. For Hartsock, I wonder if the level of competition has improved since conference has begun.

I agree Haws has totally hit that freshman wall.

Emery is becoming one of the focal points of opposing teams defenses and without space he is not a great shooter.

Regardless we were awful defensively in that game and it would not have mattered how well Haws or Emery shot the ball.

By the way once again we outscored the opposing team when Abouo was in the game.

(JT had a solid game as well)

Tavernari plays well against UNLV. He has 2 of his more well rounded games against them this year. His rebounding at the MC vs the Rebels was a big key to that win.
