Campaign to keep Tyler Haws from going on a mission

Please do your part to keep him from coming back weighing 120 lbs. My brother went to the Phillippines on his mission and he looked like an absolute skeleton when he came back. I know he spent all his time in very rural areas (Iligan mission) and all phillippine missions are probably not the same, but I imagine 2 years there could really ruin an athlete."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. I can't imagine why you wouldn't want a 6'6" pg. PG is a position that is often a weak spot for us, IMO (not including Jimmer, obviously). K Collinsworth appears to be the most prolific PG recruit we've had forever--including Jimmer.Originally posted by jay santos View PostNot gonna happen.
Plus, playing him at PG allows you to play an otherwise undersized SG, if needed.
If you want to post him up, post him up against the other teams guards.

I agree with this, but don't know how well KC can dribble. I can't seem to find a highlight video either. If he's a good ball handler, I say put him at point even if it means a weaker player at the 3. 1 is simply a more important position than 3.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI can't imagine why you wouldn't want a 6'6" pg. Hmm. Those videos are pretty hard to watch what with the camera man being drunk and in extreme-zoom mode all the time. I wasn't able to get a sense of whether he has handles or not.Originally posted by kccougar View Post

He doesn't play PG for his high school team. I heard he played PG for his summer team, but it's hard for me to believe he did it effectively. If a 6'6" pg is good, then a 6'11" pg is even better, right? Playing point guard, he'd be matched up against a guy twice as quick that he won't be able to hang with defensively and will pick him apart on D because he's not used to playing that low to the ground to protect his dribble.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI can't imagine why you wouldn't want a 6'6" pg. I don't know Tyreke Evans that well. I could see Kyle Collinsworth playing a Jalen Rose style point guard position. Maybe. But I don't see Rose going that direction.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostYou don't think he could be a Tyreke Evans type PG? If not, why?
Not saying he would be that good, but I don't see why he couldn't be cut from that same mold.

With him going to the Philippines, any chance that he doesn't come back completely malnourished?Originally posted by CJF View PostInteresting. I'm guessing I'll have Elder Haws over for dinner a time or two. I'll be living about half a mile from that mission home. When I was there before I would take the QC missionaries in the area out to lunch a couple of times a month.

Why not let Tyler go on his mission. From what all the other schools in the conference claim, he will be spending two years bulking up, working on his game, and gaining the "maturity" that gives BYU such an unfair advantage.
