I have a very very hard time seeing JT and Jimmer getting 34 minutes a game. If they do, it's a bad sign for this team.

Jimmer was 33 and JT was 32 last year. Lee was 33 and he probably would have been 36 if not for foul trouble. I don't see that it's a bad sign your star players are playing as much as they have stamina to do so. We can afford to sit JT a little, but I think we really suffer when Jimmer's out of the game.

I think BYU has more depth this year so I doubt anyone averages over 30 mpg. I think Jimmer and JT will both get around 30 mpg, but I maintain Emery will also be close to 30. I think as the season wears on Jackson Emery's toughness and leadership is going to be as indispensable as JT and Jimmer's scoring.

I think is Jimmer's team. JT is going to be a #2 option and I think he knows it and is doing his best to accept it. That recent article about his maturity highlights this IMO. A key to this team is how well JT really accepts it as the season wears on. Jimmer is the best player, offensively, and it is not even close.

Jackson Emery is and will be my favorite player. If he played for Majerus he would be one of those balding ultra effort returned missionary mormon boys that routinely holds a future lottery pick to 1/3 of his scoring average and to shooting less than 33% and Majerus would offer long ass rambling statements of praise that are only slightly more decipherable than Bronco's press comments. Saying that Dave Rose is not Ricky M and will never have the big fella's defensive prowess. But the effort that Emery brings and what that can do for the team is not to be underestimated. He may be skinny, he may have a receding hair line and he might lead people to believe he is more athletic than he is just because he is so damn willing to try so hard, but by golly he makes my nipples hard and I ain't ashamed to admit it.

I think Miles will be a starter and here is why. Davies has more potential but I doubt we see it this year. Unless Davies can consistently score better than Miles this year BYU is losing a better defender and more experienced player. Further, I see the battle for starting minutes between Abuou and Haws continuing throughout the year and I doubt Rose wants two freshman starters. I think Haws is a better offensive option than Abuou now. I am not sure if BYU only wants two scorers on the court starting. With Emery as the defensive leader and the heart of the team, and him not real offensively proficient I think BYU needs Haws scoring ability more than they need Abuou's better defensive play. It will be a matchup game but I think it more likely Haws starts. I also think that Hartsock can bring some post scoring ability.

I think BYU will have a 9 man rotation this year:

Tavernari
Miles
Abuou
Hartsock
Morgan
Davies

Our Strongest Man, Lloyd and Anderson will see potential emergency minutes, but with the ability of Tavernari to play the 4 and 3 as well as Hartsock and Davies to play both post positions and even Fredette's ability to play on the wing I don't see many opportunities for those 3. Zylestra will only play in mop up action.

If Davies can bring a consistent offensive game he could take many minutes from both Hartsock and Miles. But I am not really expecting that one. I think Hartsock develops into the most reliable post scorer for this team and I could seem him stealing minutes from Davies and getting as high as 20-22 mpg and Davies slipping under 10 mpg.

It will be fun and I am looking forward to tonight's game!

Both of the last two years he's had stretches where he implodes and either goes completely crazy with his shooting or will never shoot even when he's wide open, like he's trying to make a point. It's like giving the silent treatment to your parents when they tell you to do your homework. The team always suffers when he pulls that crap so if we can avoid that we're likely to win a couple more games.

I don't think this will happen. In fact, I read an interview he gave a few weeks ago where he assured everyone he has a new attitude and a new perspective. Of course, I read that same interview every fall, but I think he really means it this time.

Davies looks very good so far, playing with a ton of energy and athleticism, I was told the other day that Davies has been kicking Miles ass in practice and Miles has really started to press to keep his job. He seems like the kind of kid that needs to be coddled and when he sees competition he shies away from it.

Played a ton of minutes but didn't get many rebounds, steals, or assists. Did have 4 turnovers though. You can forgive some of his hucking when he's active in other parts of the game. That was not the case tonight.

Loyd was great tonight. He's going to cut into a lot of Morgan's minutes this year.

Hartsock looked much better tonight. That's encouraging.

Abouo should not be allowed to dribble the ball. He is a brutal ball-handler.

I agree, Also Bradley is a decent team and like Dave Rose said they were allowed to start practicing in August and played some exhibition games in Italy (similar to what BYU did a few years ago). So they have had 10 more practices and 4 more games than BYU.
