Take the responsibility for your child's education. Teach against any combat any racist tendencies in their education.

Work with local school district leaders to change what is wrong.
One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

I thought your wordplay was very clever.

For example, you used "was" when you should have used "were."

This is un-friggin-believeable. The district has never done anything like this with respect to any other president (I've lived here my whole life). This is an unprecedented policy made for our black muslim president.

I still can't believe it. If I didn't know better I'd think I got on the wrong interstate last weekend (which is hardly possible, as I'm an excellent navigator) and ended up in Mississippi.
I would be shocked if this didn't happen in a few schools throughout Utah, especially the Mormon Academy ones. Not so much because of POTUS skin color but because much of the state refuse to listen a Demoncrat (see Lingo that is a clever word play right there). My kids attend school in a district that is >60% Hispanic and Black so I'm pretty sure they saw the whole enchilada (again... dang I'm clever).

PS: I voted for the man so I'm allowed to use D word.

Here in Utah, my daughter's high school gave the students a choice - go to the auditorium and watch the President's address or go to lunch.

My daughter said there was a mass exodus of students from the campus.

                  Racist?....or just conservative?

I'd like to look at this from the standpoint that they just aren't going to allow the liberal gobblitiygook to flow freely at your school district.

If this is the case...I applaud their decision.

As long as they restrict the conservative gobblitiygook as well, I agree with you.

Gather evidence showing that this has not been the policy in the past. Then find a group of like-minded parents and request a public meeting with the school superintendent. Then, once it is scheduled, send out a press release for the meeting. Then, with the cameras rolling, blindside the bastard with your evidence demonstrating that the policy has changed. It would be especially good if you have a list of future school assembly presentations, and ask how the rules applied to the Obama presentation will be applied to those others. Then, with everything on tape, write a letter to the editor expressing your dismay in the choice.

It is nice to have project like this from time to time. It can be fun, and it teaches the kids about civic duty and activism. Nothing demonstrates to a child that s/he can make a difference than making a difference.

Is this the speech that everyone is up in arms about? http://my.barackobama.com/page/commu...america/gGM4kg

I just read it and I think it is great. Why are there problems with it?

I can't find it on youtube, but it seems harmless.

The objection wasn't so much the content of the speech, but the "suggestion" that after the speech, students write down ways they can help Obama succeed that caused the uproar. The White House decided to not push that and only give the speech.

I think they need to go back to the "Scared Straight" school assemblies they had in the mid 80's, where they bring in ex-cons and policeman to scare the crap out of rural white kids on what prison is like. Hearing about forcible prison rape at the height of the AIDS scare was one of the more memorable assemblies I ever attended. It helped turn me away from a life of crime, however seeing the movie "Heat" a decade later made me reconsider my career choice.
