And we don't have fascism in this country at a rate of anything close to what Europe has. Just because progressives call MAGA fascist doesn't mean that it is. It's destructive populism. That is pernicious enough without needing to redefine the term.

It's nonsense because you don't agree with me.

And no, social science professors and excessive political correctness are not the most totalitarian factors in this nation is incorrect.

MAGA is not picked on by whiny liberals to the point where all criticisms are invalid. Just because you're more comfortable blaming liberal institutions doesn't mean that they arent increasingly tolerant of fascism. Candidates increasingly pop up with fashy connections. Trumps is a proto-fascist.

The Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, Nick Fuentes, Sebastian Gorkha, Jack Prosebic are fascists to point to a few.

Candice Owens was recently bounced from the Daily Wire for perpetuating anti semetic rhetoric. She is far from the only one spouting this shit/ That includesElon Musk even if he did a visit a concentration camp with Ben Shapiro.

Much the immigration rhetoric is couched in great replacement theory paranoia.

No, it's not non sense, you just disagree. You clearly are ignoring the fact the Ron Destantis and is leading his crusade to pull shit from libraries. Moms for liberty is as anti free spreech as it gets.

Not sure why we are talking about fascism in a discussion on free speech.

Do you think there should be any restriction on what content is presented to kids in elementary schools as part of the curriculum? Is this always a free speech issue?

I would argue that the bigger threat is shutting down guest speakers and faculty at universities because they have controversial opinions. Like the case with the judge at Stanford. Thankfully, I think most university administrations are doing a better job at enforcing free speech principles, as evidenced by the Stanford reaction to the afore-mentioned case. I am fairly optimistic about free speech in America.

These were liberal institutions, they are now overwhelmingly progressive institutions preaching secular puritans. It's a problem.aknowledged by countless liberals, not just conservatives (Steven Pinker, Jonathon Haidt, Larry Summers, Randall Kennedy, etc.). The folks at FIRE as well.

Trump isn't in office. The elected MAGA in congress are bumbling imbeciles who are really good at whittling away their small majority. The Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, Nick Fuentes, Sebastian Gorkha, Jack Prose, have no impact on any legislation and are similar to Antifa in ability to enact change.

I don't want Trump to win because he will be terrible for the country and may push the legal institutions to their limit. Perhaps a perfect storm will happen to enable a hostile takeover of the country. I personally beleive they are too incompetent to accomplish this. Mostly because Trump has no real philosophy of his own. But they have no real power right now.

Dude, you are calling her a holocaust denier based on that tweet? Or is there something else (I noticed someone else posted the tweet, so maybe you've got another idea)? If it is based on the tweet, I think the best you could argue is that she is denying either (1) the existence of books on "trans health" (which seems laughable that such books existed in Nazi Germany, especially in the way we use "trans" today), or (2) the assertion that Nazi's burned those books. I don't think you can make any assessment on what JKR believes about whether the holocaust happened or not.

If its this tweet, you should probably retract that statement. In my opinion, the fear and power of accusing someone of "denying the holocaust" is so damaging to a person's reputation that it should not be thrown about lightly. I might even think it could be the basis of a defamation suit. Let's not get into calling someone a holocaust denier as a weapon.

TBF, JLs initial post was suspect in content.

The pendulum correction to extreme PC and wokeness has become its own problem.

I don't think CRT is something someone not in college is going to have to worry about. I also don't think being exposed to it is harmful. Restricting it via legislation is restricting the free exercise of discourse and expression. It curtails freedoms of speech.

Stop legislating what can be discussed.

If you are talking gender affirming education in public school. I would ask the context, because people who work in mental health shouldn't be forbidden dealing with issues because someone doesn't like them. I don't think kids need presentations in school on some of these concern or encouraged to make a drastic decision about altering their body, hormones etc.

The cultural warriors do not seem to have Christlike love for these children. Jordan Peterson, Matt Walsh etc are not honest morally driven people. They are exploitive narcissists.

Much of their wealth and acclaim is a result of their whiny, insincere complaints about being victims to woke modernity. Their screeds and derision impact people who are struggling, sometimes battling to find reason to live.

They are bullies. So in a way is John Dehlin. Their agendas don't seem to be driven wanting to listen to an individual.

I agree that banning CRT (as stupid as it is) from college curriculum is wrong.

I wasn't talking specifically about gender affirming education, but I absolutely believe there should be some guardrails and limitations about what is taught in K-12 public education.

I think that's reasonable. But I don't think these Moms for Liberty types are doing that. It's a lot more than that and it has caught up in classic literature being banned from schools.

They are easy to find. Google some BBC articles if you like.

Fascinating how you are such an apologist for free speech restrictions. So those women in Scotland should just shut up and trust that the government will not infringe on their rights and every decision they make on which cases to prosecute will be correct and fair, right? Just ignore the cases where the government allows rapists to go to a women's prison because of their preferred gender identity. The government is always right! Unless of course, the government decides put restrictions on life-altering surgeries and hormone treatments to minors. You can't trust them with that decision.
