    Not the time
So what is the action, leave it in place and let people without the resources and platform of Rowling get bullied and potentially sent to prison under this law? Good for Rowling for using her influence to push back against the literal speech police in the west.

Yes, to heck with those transgender nazis... And Easter is about bunny rabbits and multicolored eggs, not them!

          The law is stupid

Rowling is a legit transphobe and holocaust denier at that.

rowling should not be a role model or cited on anything trans related.

It really is shocking how freedom of speech is less protected/valued in Europe. Of all people, they should know better.

I disagree with her being a transphobe. I’ve read a lot of her tweets and don’t see transphobia in them. I’ve never heard the accusation that she is a holocaust denier. Care to add context to that?

Even if I agreed with your characterization of Rowling (which I don't), you evaded the question. Also FIFY. I guess your opinion is the law is stupid so just ignore it.

Denying parts of the holocaust is denying the holocaust. If I said jews died but not 6 million is that denial? According to adl etc it is

We will catch up. Especially with teachers and professors being forbidden from teaching certain concepts at the risk of legal threat.

Europe used to be ahead of us on the organized fascism front for a long time. The French, The Netherlands, even the UK always had functional far right elements in their politics. We've caught up.

It is an incredibly stupid and baseless accusation.

This is nonsense on both points. Teachers unions and professors of humanities/social sciences at most public universities are the most anti free speech and authoritarian groups in the country. The feeble attempts by conservative blowhards to counter this isn't above the courts in most cases.

And we don't have fascism in this country at a rate of anything close to what Europe has. Just because progressives call MAGA fascist doesn't mean that it is. It's destructive populism. That is pernicious enough without needing to redefine the term.

Taking around someone since you refuse to respond to particular posters or address the accusations is pretty childish behavior.

And you actually cited the accused in defense of the accused. Lmao.

Like you didn't even research this at all and just believed what she said. Hook. Line. Sinker.

I thought you guys were against virtue signaling?

The laws design was to streamline a hate crime law that’s been on the books in the UK since 1986. Misgendering someone does not make you susceptible to prosecution and has provisions to protect the free speech protections already in existence. It’s not a trans specific law, it’s a law to protect a wide range of minority groups.

JK is not under any threat of arrest or criminal prosecution by misgendering a few people. She does lay bare her intentions when she purposefully adds some pedophiles into a group of trans individuals to misgender them. She’s not trying to protest against a questionable law, or stand up for free speech, or use her considerable platform and resources to fight the good fight, shes heading down the same path of Elon, Jordan Peterson, RFK, Vance, and countless others who a few years ago were considered thoughtful and serious thinkers.

I’d honestly need to research more about her tweet above and the claims, but your first statement is very black and white. Rowling only seemed to contest the burning of certain books by the Nazis. She isn’t denying the holocaust happened. Taking a black and white stance on her by saying she denies the holocaust isn’t a rational take.
