I try to like you. I've tried to help you. I thought that you were on a good course with this thread, but then you get all Lingoish and I V8-smack my head.

Blind faith tends to result in extreme action, like we see with the crusades. But when it comes to partisan politics, I believe you're mistaking adherence for faith.
Do people not believe certain tenets of political ideology? Believe in them even if there is not ironclad proof that they are correct?
You forget that people may religiously (if you will) subscribe to a doctrine without having much faith in that doctrine or its primary proponents.
Of course. Many people use religious beliefs and values to further other, non-religious goals.
See, the crusades were a result of blind faith in a religious ideology and its leaders. Partisan politics, on the other hand, inspires adherence, but no faith whatsoever.
I don't agree. Like I said, the healthcare debate comes down to whether you believe the government can pull this off or not. As this cannot be empirically proved, I'd say it is blind faith.
So the pervasive sentiment toward American politics is not fanaticism at all, but rather apathy.
This seems an odd close to your paragraph; it doesn't relate to the preceding statements at all that I can see.
But regardless, I wasn't talking about the pervasive sentiment toward American politics. I was talking about the people who are interested in politics and how they relate to those who disagree with them.
I don't know about you guys, but I am ready to kill anyone that stands in the way of universal healthcare. I don't care if I die in the process. You are all forewarned!

I hate the idea of universal healthcare. Bring it on, pal. Unlike you, I exercise my 2nd Amendment rights.

Absolutely. Greater love hath no man than this: that he would lay down his life for lower copays.

lol! you sound like a religious fanatic from the Crusades!
You can't even empirically prove that universal healthcare won't work, and yet you are blindly against it!
It is a shame that I am going to have to martyr myself at your expense. Whenever we hang out, I enjoy myself.

Precedent, my friend, has been set on government run entities.

be careful, now. There are people out there who will fight to the death on behalf of a welfare state.
They're all talk.

nope, lingo. *I* tried. I tried not to tell you what I really thought of your post, but you mailed me and insisted that I post. Even then I didn't respond, as I had no desire to spend half an hour outlining just how absurd your commentary was. But still undeterred, you had to go call me out publicly.
So, honestly, lingo, what did you expect? I told you what I thought, and I played it straight. No sarcasm, non cheap shots. Just the facts. It was you that came back with the catty "let it go, babs" coda.
So don't come around selling the victim card, lingo. Nobody's buying it.
Sometimes I really have hope for you. Then you crash and burn with a thread like this. Argh.
Babs gave you a great reply. I can't believe you felt the need to respond like that. And you wonder why so few people like to engage you in debate or answer your questions.
