My wife qualifies. Is that good enough?

And for the record, my first 35 years were spent in Utah.

No she doesn't. She gave up that mess of pottage when she left.

I've lived in my small town 20 years, i can't call myself local. My kids aren't locals either even though they were born here.

So, if you ever move you can't claim anywhere as home anymore?

        You guys are insane.

          Claiming a home is overrated.

Depends on the town and the culture. My wife is from a small town in southern utah and it is 100% that way. If your entire family hasn't been there for generations you are called an "import". They are super nice to you, but you are always an import.

Funny story: There is a long-term resident there named _____. Decades ago another guy with the exact same name moved in. Everybody started calling the new guy "Artificial" to avoid confusion and it stuck as a permanent nickname.

you are insane. Trying to keep people out of Idaho two years after carpetbagging your way up there. But your wife lived there 45 years ago, sorry doesn't count.

Not trying to keep anybody out, just don't want to redraw the boundary.

We would have to peel off all of the Idaho stickers everybody has on their cars: sticker_MED_colors3_900x.jpg

I had the real name in there but decided to edit it out at the last minute.

I’m guessing the real guy’s name was Art.

_____ is probably a better name for those guys, anyway.

The other side of that coin - I could move to La Grande, OR and be excepted there as an ole-timer because of my family name. 5 generations of such. Even though I've never lived there personally - our family has a strong legacy there - and I would fit right in.

My grandpa was born in La Grande. His parents moved him back to Utah when he was young. I think there are still Perry families there though.

Too funny - we're related. Not by blood - but my marriage. Several La Grande Perry's married into our family - and several of mine have married into the Perry's. I was just talking about this fact this week with some relatives. It's 99% sure that your Grandfather and my Grandfather knew each other.

That made me curious about my family's part in La Grande. It appears that my Grandfather was only there until he was 2, when his parents moved to SLC. His Grandfather was the original Perry there in 1898 and died in 1914.
