Maybe but I am always skeptical of those kinds of predictions. Supposedly Florida turned dark blue in 2008 but now that Obama is done how is that going? Trump may hasten a long term realignment in some states but I'll believe it when I see it.

All the judges at the court of appeals lost due to the Beto effect. This is why the lege eliminated straight-party voting effective 2020.

That's good. I always vote no on all the judges anyway.

So no real blue wave but Trump claiming victory is a little ridiculous. Losing the house is obviously a big deal for him as the chance of getting any big legislation through before next election is gone. I am actually pretty pleased with the way things went. A dem house will happily check the worst of trump's impulses, but he can protect the actual policy changes he has made with the Republican Senate. Maybe we can finally get done with the Russia investigations now as well. Selfishly speaking, maybe Pelosi and Trump can strike a big infrastructure deal

I hope Sparticus and Boxer are happy. With the mood of the country and how disgusting trump is to large swaths of the electorate, the dems should have taken the Senate and many more state houses than they did. The only thing that derailed that was the Kavenaugh circus. If they hadn't done that, they would have the Senate as well as control of Florida, Ohio, and Iowa. Now Trump has a leg up in the most key states in 2020 and will probably get at least one more very conservative justice on the supreme court. Good job, Sparticus!

What you guys said. It takes awfully good legislation to beat no new legislation at all. Doesn't matter which party is in control.

                            McKay Coppins tweet:
My wife and I got back from voting and found our 5yo in tears that she didn't get to come. So I took her to the polling place and gave her a little patriotic talk about America and democracy.

On the way back she told me she thought mom had said we went "boating."

The senate was never in the cards. Democrats were defending 18 seats and the GOP only 8. The dems also picked up several Governorships, including Wisoncisn’s. It was not a blue tsunami but it was a blue wave.

Trump just said that Mia Love lost because she didn’t accept Trump’s help in the campaign. Trump threw in a weird reference to Josh Holt being held hostage in Venezuela.
