    • Why would he challenge Mitt Romney in a Republican primary?

          • I think it would be highly likely for Romney to lose in the convention but be on the primary ballot due to collecting signatures. But I think he still wins in a primary.

My local State Representative lost in the state convention but went on to win in the primary - in spite of all of the campaigning from his opponent telling the world that HE was the candidate chosen by and supported by the party.

            • The way things are going, by the time Romney’s next election comes around I think most of the republican party will have moved on from Trump and his resistance to Trumpism won’t be anywhere near the liability people are making it out to be.

By then, it might even be more widely acknowledged as an asset.

I'd love for him to lead the GOP away the fringe. That's a pipe dream.

The fringe is just moving on to that gay hating piece of shit DeSantis.

It was interesting to listen to the NYT podcast yesterday where the guest went to great lengths describing why DeSantis is less extreme than Trump. Made me laugh thinking of some folks here arguing that he would be worse.

There are things about him that are worse. Overall, I don't think he is worse. DeSantis' hostility towards the LGBTQ community is worse than Trump. DeSantis has raised his profile largely by speaking in code telling gay people to get back in the closet. He wouldn't hesitate to throw 1,000 gay people under the bus if it got him 1 extra vote.

A lot of folks around here are liberals... so they are very hateful toward everyone but especially anyone that may have shaken hands with Drumpf on an occasion or two. I don't know how they can have so much hate in their hearts. Maybe it is all that devil worshiping they do.

                            • I admit it’s shallow analysis, but every time I wonder about DeSantis I remember his Trump-loving campaign ad and his recent self-deifying “God made a fighter” commercial and .
