Any more traffic than normal on I-84/I-86?

We totally missed I-86 because I was worried that once we passed Pocatello and got on I-15, all those Utahans coming north would clog up the roadway. We took highway 20 from Mountain Home and stopped at Craters of the Moon for a few hours to do some spelunking.

A couple of my siblings drove up from SLC Friday night and traffic was totally normal.

I've never found highway 20 to be much faster. How was the spelunking?

Fun. The caves were 20 degrees cooler than the surface so it was enjoyable.

Normally, 20 isn't faster (Google says a little slower). But we went that way because of Craters and the specter of heavy traffic on I-15.

Am I the only one actually reading the captions on these maps? It doesn't say that 74M people will be going, just that number is the entire population within the "driveshed" of Santee.

Right, but doesn't it logically follow that many people who are interested in seeing the eclipse in totality will find their ways to the drivesheds?

No traffic on our drive up to Idaho.

I bet 95 is a parking lot south of VA tomorrow morning.

We're on the road now to our camping spot. Everything, from the grocery store to the roads, is a huge disappointment.

We were lucky to find a spot in the crowd to see the eclipse.

Gonna wait until 2024, when the path of totality goes right through our house.

Here’s every total solar eclipse happening in your lifetime. Is this year your best chance?

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

77 and 85 could really be nasty. I spent the past two days on 85 and the DOT billboards the whole way were warning of heavy traffic tomorrow. On the other hand, this will serve as a good practice run for the flow of fans traveling to Greenville for the ECU game.
I have nothing else to say at this time.

We had no trouble getting to our campsite today. The campground manager said it's the busiest he's seen in the last year, but there's still plenty of space.

Here's the view of our tent from the fire pit.
