Incorrect. Leftists are the worst at poking fun at themselves. They get easily offended when someone cracks a joke that questionstheir firmly held social justice beliefs. That’s what even adds to the humor is the reaction from people like you and other leftists."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I have really never been on cougar board... sounds like a nice place.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostNo, it’s not just because of it’s political slant. It’s dumb dad humor. And that is one reason why the onion is funny and the Babylon Bee mostly not funny. Even though the onion probably mirrors its biggest demographic politically, it can still make fun of both sides. And have plenty of room for non-political issues.Originally posted by BigPiney View Post

Pretty much all agenda driven political humor is awful. The last four years have destroyed Colbert, Kimmel, and John Oliver. Maher never was funny. Frank is correct about right wing jokes. Ridiculously bad. Full of politicians saying dumb shit like Fauci Ouchie or Archie Bunker 2.0 comedians like Nick DiPaulo. Then the woke types just scold anyone laughing because it actually isn’t funny and everything is problematic.
The good comedians that do some good political jokes as part of their act (usually not all) are hyper cynical. People like Colin Quin, Burr, Chappelle, and Jim Norton.

Yep. The Daily Show used to be one of the best shows on television. Jon Stewart was hilarious and I knew when I tuned in all sides were going to get skewered which made it easier to laugh when your side was getting it. But now the Daily Show, Samantha Bee, Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and a bunch of other wannabes don't really tell jokes any more. The formula is say something someone on the right did, make a funny face, and then the audience claps with some laughter mixed in. John Oliver is still ok but I maintain that if he had an American accent he wouldn't have a career (same with Richard Brand). The right doesn't even have comedians. I can't think of a single one that makes me laugh.Originally posted by YOhio View PostPretty much all agenda driven political humor is awful. Your list of comedians is a good one and I agree I think they are good because they don't JUST do politics. They do funny which sometimes veers into politics.

A little - but not much.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post
It’s a bit more complicated than that.
I know plenty of people who were Mitt fans, but jumped on the Trump train due to Trump hitting back.
Mitt gets lambasted for having a dog kennel on the roof of his car and telling people at a fundraising dinner that they have no chance with 47% of voters and need to get the other 53%. Agree or disagree with Mitt - they weren't cracking on him for his politics, they were going after his character.
So when Trump doesn't take it and punches back - parts of the GOP who have watched the Dems hit the GOP time after time decide that they love Trump's response.
Unlike what many of the left believe, Trump didn't get elected because the GOP is full of racist misogynists. He got elected because they loved that he had fight and they were tired of the Dems characterizing them as evil selfish idiots.

Perhaps a more clear statement - the Dems would like you to believe that all Trump voters were racist misogynists. They were not. Trump would not have been elected if the only people voting for him were racist misogynists.
