    • Yeah, your parallel doesn’t work. They didn’t knowing give access to the foreign intruders they were duped. And the the fact that they duped being more important than the actual crime to you and Ted is a bit troublesome. The crime is still an attack on our democracy. We also know that wasn’t the extent of their hacking activities.

Especially when you left video tapes of all your unethical activities packaged up in a box and wrapped with a bow to take as well.

First, that was not a hack. It was a crime but also really stupid by those whose emails were taken. Second, yes we know more about the extent of the activities than we did before, and we know that as to the election most of it was pretty insubstantial. I’m much more bothered by someone leaving classified information on their closet server while surrounded by people too dumb to use a real Password than I am by a few hundred grand in Facebook bots.

                • Hey, good news Commando! We may not need all those new immigration judges after all:

Trump administration to give Border Patrol agents authority to decide asylum claims on the spot: Sources

The Department of Homeland Security is racing to implement a plan that would give federal law enforcement on the border the authority to conduct interviews with asylum seekers who fear returning to their home countries, according to two sources with firsthand knowledge of the plan.

Under the pending procedural change, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officers would train Border Patrol agents on the southern border how to conduct "credible fear interviews," which immigrants must pass to go on to claim asylum. Agents would conduct the interviews shortly after apprehending people who have illegally crossed from Mexico to the U.S.

The Trump administration is pushing to start agent training “ASAP,” according to one official.

I wouldn’t talk about commando like that... he is a nice guy but may get angry now and then.

Perfect. I mean- who needs any sort of legal training or discipline to navigate the deep, murky waters of asylum law? Just let our border bound rent-a-cops handle it! I mean- an illiterate, syphilitic game show host can be president, so this at least won't be an unprecedented national crisis of woefully unqualified people manning an area that requires a high level of sustained critical thinking and specialized expertise.

This definitely won't inundate the already overburdened system with legal challenges. Great idea.

That’s the kind of thing that would alarm most principled people including committed libertarians.

                          • Of the (many) things that disqualifies Trump for the presidency and human decency, this stands out for me: his denigration of Puerto Rico and lies about disaster relief:

They are American citizens, though given his continued indifference to PR, I'd bet he wishes they weren't.

Let’s just say it, they are brown and speak Spanish, so of course he does not like them.

And PR has no electoral votes, which is another reason not to care.

However, his poor treatment of Puerto Rico could come back to bite him if it ends up helping the democrats in Florida.
