5 years ago I would have been right with you. My daily news consumption basically consisted of Drudge, and I got my commentary from Instapundit. I was a huge supporter of citizen journalism, and I still am. But there still is a critical need for journalism as a profession. Despite biases all over, I would still inherently trust a properly vetted story from a professional reporter over a citizen journalist. None of the journalists alone deserve trust. None. If you consume from all over the spectrum, you may be able to triangulate some measure of value. That doesn't mean the institution of the press deserves trust or respect, because information can be vetted if it is run through enough sources with different perspectives.
