This Trump apologist needs to try a little harder. I get that this is a partisan/opinion column, but it's also one of the more removed from reality pieces I've read. Granted, it was clearly written to an audience that reads only hyper-partisan stuff and nothing else.

--Seriously? Obama I will grant you could be called weak in the foreign policy department. But to say he did "nothing" to respond to the Ukraine invasion is absurd considering how hard Putin has been trying to get Trump to reverse what he did do, which is the sanctions. Everything Putin does in regard to the US seems to have some connection to removing sanctions. They have hurt his economy. Disagree with the policy if you want, but it's not nothing, and this statement is dishonest.

And this paragraph is downright comical:

Just imagine how the Democrats and the media would react if President Trump authorized a similar operation to keep Putin in power." Astute????

What moron would not see a difference between Yeltsin and Putin or between the early 90s and today? Yeltsin was trying to take out Communism and bring free markets and democracy to Russia and make them attractive to the west. Too bad he had too many personal failings like alcoholism to get very far. As soon as Putin came in and Yeltsin died soon after, Putin began the process of killing democracy in Russia as quickly as possible, convert from a real free market to an oligarchy economy he would personally benefit from, and an aggressive foreign policy to take back or control all other former Soviet republics as much as possible.

The uncanny similarities between President Trump and Martin Luther King Jr.

J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI investigated King. James B. Comey’s FBI investigated Trump.

The National Security Agency eavesdropped on King. Trump said he had his phones tapped by President Barack Obama.

King wrote the famous “Letter From Birmingham Jail.” Many of Trump’s former advisers are facing jail time.

King spoke at the Lincoln Memorial. Trump boasts that he is more popular among Republicans than Lincoln (“I beat our Honest Abe”).

King was stabbed, stoned, firebombed and shot. Trump believes “no politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly” than he.

King fought against the Vietnam War. Trump avoided the Vietnam War with bone spurs, then said avoiding venereal disease was his “personal Vietnam.”

King dreamed that “the crooked places shall be made straight.” Trump warned about Crooked Hillary.

King wanted his kids not to “be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Trump, in a similar vein, proclaimed that his daughter has “got the best body ” and is “very voluptuous.”

King was the greatest orator of his era. Trump says: “I have the best words.”

King was the foremost civil rights figure of his age. Trump has learned that “Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I notice.”

King was president of his class in divinity school. Trump says that “nobody reads the Bible more than me.”

King was Time’s Man of the Year. Trump’s golf resorts displayed fake Time covers with Trump’s face on them until he won the distinction legitimately.

King imagined “little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls.” Trump declared: “Look at my African American over here.”

Norway granted King the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump wants “more people from places like Norway” rather than “shithole” African countries.

King observed that “nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” Trump, of similar belief, declared that he is “like, really smart” and “a very stable genius.”

Admittedly, Trump differs with King on some minor, technical points. King was defined by civil disobedience. Trump thinks “it’s embarrassing for the country to allow protesters.” King believed passionately in nonviolence. Trump promised to pay the legal fees of people who “knock the crap out of” protesters at his events.

But the Pencean Dialectic shows us far more that unites them.

King worried about the lack of opportunity for African Americans. So does Trump! He said: “You’re living in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs, 58 percent of your youth is unemployed — what the hell do you have to lose?”

And nothing fulfills King’s dream like miles and miles of concrete (or steel!) barrier keeping out poor, dark-skinned people.

King said: “We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.” Trump says: “We must build the wall!”

King said “hate is too great a burden to bear.” Trump feels the same — which is why he says he is building the wall out of “love.”

If Trump really wanted the wall, if he truly believed that this dumb stunt — which lacks even bare majority support from the general public — would fix a serious national problem, he would offer a clean DREAM Act in exchange for the wall funding. Doing so would force Democrats to choose between achieving a long-sought policy goal and the principle of not negotiating with terrorists. But Trump, accustomed to ripping people off and getting away with it, only offers and believes in one-sided agreements.

I travelled last week and couldn't really tell that government was shutdown. Of course, I flew out of SFO and didn't even see any TSA agents there. I guess SFO contracts some private security company. Maybe all the other airports should just do the same... We would all most likely save some money. Or we could just get rid of the security theater called airport security. Then we could just throw away all our stuff that is in a container that holds more than 3.4 ounces of liquid even though there is maybe an once of actual liquid actually inside. And also then we can touch our own balls.

I mean... that's assuming that every funding bill is only good for 2-3 months at a time, but yes-- this guy doesn't care. He'll say anything it takes to get something to run on in 2020.

The CR that would have passed at the end of December which he originally said he would sign, only would have been good until sometime in February.

Now that the Supreme Court has declined to hear Trump's DACA challenge (I think citing that it's not ripe for the Court to hear- I haven't really read the whole thing), his 'offer' to extend it has zero appeal. It's going to be in place for the foreseeable future. Again- if he can sweeten the pot with a path to citizenship and restore initial applications, 5b for border security would be no problem.
