So 2000 US troops is the difference between order and chaos in the Syria? Good grief. If so, that ought to be an easy void to fill by some other country.

Speaking of which, why is the US responsible for the Kurdish children as you imply? Why not the UK? Germany? France? Japan? China?

Walter is kind of crazy, but he is right on this one.
So you think trump should've made the decision based on one phone call with no consultation with the military?

Amazing how people think they know more than the commanders on the ground. Trump.made this decision b3cause turkeys dictator told him to and he wants Turkey to.shut up on the journalist murder. How anyone on this board is ok with that is beyond me.

Sometimes you come up with the strangest reductions.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Didn’t Drumpf make that decision a long time ago as a campaign promise? And the voters agreed with him... including the Russian hacker voters.

By the way, did Obama ever get Gitmo shutdown like he promised? He almost got my vote for that one and the one about making the most transparent government ever!

I'm asking if what happened shouldve happened, since it seems if you defend the decision, you have to defend how it was made.

Uh how not. If you say trump made the right decision, you have to own the reasoning used too.

I dont see the condemnation of the reasoning and cause for the change .

That's not even technically possible. To own the reasoning, one would have to have a full mental map of Trump's brain, experiences, genetics, and personality. One would then need access to the same information about anyone he may have interacted with that could have influenced the decision throughout his life. One cannot own the reasoning without knowing the first principles and assumptions on which the reasoning is based. Humans are simply too complex, change too often, and are primarily emotion based decision makers.

Agreeing or disagreeing with any policy decisions has to be made with reasoning based on one's own first principles, assumptions, and experiences. There isn't another way.

I am saying you have to either condemn or accept the fact he decided this on a whim because turkey told him to on the phone along with whatever you think about the syria policy.

                      IE

the question isnt, should we withdraw from Syria,

the question is, should the president decide to withdraw from syria (against the wishes of his Sec of Def , national security director, and congress and everyone else giving him advice) without discussing it with anyone because turkeys president asked him why he hasnt on the phone"

I don't like Drumpf. I don't understand his thought process. I certainly won't pretend to understand Drumpf or his decision-making process. That said, I don't want our troops in Syria. I want them home with their families.

Occams Razor. Trump wasn’t pulling out until he got pressure from Turkey. He also referenced Turkey as the country that will take out ISIS. I get wanting the troops home, but the issue is more complex than this. We benefit from having allies on the region, particularly from an intelligence standpoint. We are pulling out before an important planned offensive. We are pulling out before we told our allies we would. I don’t think Mattis is some bloodthirsty Curtis LeMay.

Wrong. The question is should we withdraw from Syria.

Of course Trump is a huge dummy and anything he does right will probably be by accident. But withdrawing from Syria is nowhere near that disaster people are claiming.

Really can’t assess that until after it happens.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
