President Trump has actually done something right. And on something important like ordering troops out of Syria and bringing some home from Afghanistan. I'm kind of floored. President W Bush created the "norm" of perpetual war and President Obama expanded and cemented that norm. President Trump needs to be told that there are people that agree and support this decision to break with the norms of his presidential predecessors. Especially when all of the media talking heads (and dumbasses like the frank_ryan's of the world) are against it. So I actually used the White House web site to send our President a letter and closed it with the advice above.

So if you are an anti-interventionist stick-in-the-mud like me, send in a letter of support. Don't let the complaints from the folks that would rather us continue our perpetual wars dominate the news cycle. There might be a real opportunity here. I'm cautiously optimistic anyway.

What I can't understand is how Drumpf can be against this congress approved war in Syria... Oh wait, congress didn't approve this war in Syria. OK, I guess it is time to go.

Congress seems perfectly happy to let every president since 9/11 use the following authorization for waging war around the world. If the Donkeys can't get the Elephants to go along with either clarifying or changing the authorization, maybe they should take it to the Supreme Court?

Section 2 – Authorization For Use of United States Armed Forces

                (a) IN GENERAL- That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons.

That only covers the 9/11 terrorists. Obama sacked Bin Laden and ISIS has been pretty much defeated. Saudi Arabia is sending their troops in to mop up the rest. A few trillion dollars later the war on the 9/11 terrorists is over boys. Time to pack it up and go home. The Syrian civil war isn't our war.

                  • I've been concerned for some time that Trump would politicize the Federal Reserve Board, and with the big drop in the markets, he's apparently looking to fire Jerome Powell, the Fed Chairman. No doubt Trump wants the Fed to keep interest rates artificially low, as he doesn't want to be blamed for the looming global recession. I'm sure he'd rather defer the day of economic reckoning, including a return to the days of stagflation, until after he's out of office

That's pretty much why we went to Syria, tied loosely to the 9/11 war on terror authority. Congress would do a lot of good by standing up and actually doing their job.

Man it feels like it's coming not too far down the road.

It seems that the closer the noose tightens the crazier he gets.

Some have been trying to do just that. No rest for the weary.
