Someone should tell Trump the success rate for American-backed regime change right after they give him the high-level definition of “regime”.

Trump is a dumbass and i hate when he says this shit. Totally unbecoming of a sitting US president to gloat about "kill count." Never voted for him never will.Originally posted by LVAllen View Post
Dehumanization, wally.
"It's justified to kill someone because X" becomes "We need to kill someone because Y" becomes "We should kill someone" becomes "It doesn't matter if they die because they aren't people like you and me."
If you're going to kill someone, it helps to ease the conscience if you can tell yourself that they are less than human. If you want to kill a lot of people, they need to be category of subhuman.
Inmates are still human, regardless of the horrible decisions some of them have made, and for which they have received a sentence under a process that was, in most cases, fair. Alleged terrorists are still human. Alleged drug smugglers in boats are still human. Children in school are human.
But at the same time....he was referencing a US military assassination of Qasem Soleimani in 2020. Are you defending his humanity?
I am not talking about the war in Iran in 2026, nor the bombing of the school. Not everything done WRT Iran is the same thing. I am talking about the assassination of one guy in 2020, about whom Trump was gloating in the short clip. Maybe Trump went on to gloat about other kills too, my bad if so.

I don't have to to be sympathetic to the Iranian dictatorship to be wholly against a war that is driven by an egomaniac's desperate attempt to win a Nobel peace prize and line his pockets in the process. We've all learned the hard way that regime change doesn't work without a decades-long commitment to boots on the ground. And even then, it still probably won't work.
Attacking Iran was supposedly not about regime change. But since none of the supposed objectives of this alleged 2-week non-war have come to fruition--4+ months into it now--please forgive me if "but, they were bad people and this regime needed to change" is not seeming like a valid reason for any of what has gone on in Iran.

My ancestors were considered evil terrorists by the god-fearing people of Missouri and Ohio. They even had the backing of the government in proclaiming them as such. Forgive me if I need a little extra proof before deeming someone unworthy of humanity.

LV. Yeah.. I am one who will not show any remorse for a terrorist being killed or consider them a person. Hard to consider anyone who tortures, kills, a “person”. GASP! I know. I guess I fall into your little box of some Trumpian.
I fall on the side of evil is evil. Simple as that.
NW: I agree with what you said and my initial post pretty much said as such.As J said. I think it was stupid but so is this idea of humanizing or being sympathetic that these are “People”..

But how dare you say that people are... gasp.. PEOPLE!Originally posted by frank ryan View PostI don't support terrorists or supports political violence. To say I do is libel.
As I've said before. Conservatives like that Trump hurts the people they don't like. They like the way he hurts them.

You're kind of flailing around here. Even if it's true that Frank always paints the portrait of GOP 'bloodust', that doesn't mean he or anyone else is trying to make terrorists sympathetic. You can absolutely criticize how Trump and his minions glorify killing without pretending terrorists are anything else than what they are. If protecting Americans from terrorism is serious business, our leaders shouldn't treat it like it's a video game.Originally posted by dabrockster View Post
You may not be but Frank is a different story. Dude speaks about the power hungry and bloodlust of the GOP.. He takes every opportunity to continue to paint this portrait. His own bloodlust to demonize the GOP is in itself just as weird..

You actually saying these guys are humans is completely absurd and insane.. You speak as if I can’t be serious but here you are..Originally posted by falafel View Post
Don't humanize these humans? Are you serious these days, or is this some kind of level 1 troll operation you are trying initiate?
Also, how can you criticize Trump for talking about all the people he's killed and then in the next breath defend him for those killings?

Absolutely no one serious is trying to make these people more sympathetic. But what is very unseemly is an American president gloating about the number of kills ‘he’ has racked up.
