I really like Buttigieg (or however you spell it). He's light on experience, but high on likability.

Plus, I would love to have Utah have the choice between a non-religious, serial philanderer with an (r) after his name and a buttoned-up, bible-touting gay man with a (d) after his name. I think I know how that would go down.

My guess is that Mayor Pete's sexuality wouldn't change any meaningful amount of votes in Utah anyway. It isn't as if there is some huge contingent of Mormons in Utah who are ready and willing to vote for a Democrat and the fact that he is gay is going to dissuade them.

That isn't to say that folks aren't bigoted, because there is plenty of that, rather it is the fact that most people have determined that they aren't going to vote for anybody with a D behind their name.

Yeah, people aren't voting for the person, they are voting for the party. And, as flawed as the republican party is, it stands for more things that Utahns care about than the democratic party does. Still, Trump will do poorly in Utah again, even though he will win. In the absence of a decent 3rd party candidate, Trump will probably break 50% this time.

I read your CNBC article that Trump has raised more than $308,000,000...

can't be sure, but I don't think it accounts for the additional $50,000 in Facebook ads that the Internet Research Agency will buy.

So whatever the amount, make sure you boost it by 0.005% to account for pro-Trump Russian ad buys. Freakin' Rooskies!
