The transaction was done. They took his money. That was his property in the cart. I think he has a solid case.

Seems like Costco could say he agreed to abide by their policies when he signed up for the membership. They grabbed their cart, not his property. Says he's the one who went hands on (a person) first.

Of course what absolutely sinks Costco is the excessive use of force. Breaking his leg for grabbing a shirt collar to make him let go of the cart? Absolutely unlawful, if the events unfolded as described.

Uh.. Yeah. I am sure this is all about the cart.

Sometimes I buy stuff for church events and I have the checker do two receipts: one for my stuff and one for the church stuff. I put the church receipt in my wallet and show them the other receipt when I leave, which is for only a portion of the goods in my cart. Not once have they noticed. This is a really dumb thing to do to your loyal customers. If you want to guard against people going out with cart of goods without going through the checkout (highly unlikely given the way the checkout lanes are managed), then they should put someone in a room watching cameras.

Good luck getting the church to reimburse on a Costco receipt that hasn't been verified and marked.

Was the restraint reasonable in light of no evidence or reasonable belief of theft? Was the leg kick which broke his leg reasonable? These will be decisions for a jury, but Costco will be wise to settle confidentially.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

If you hate Costco's policy then why do you continue to shop there? Folks that hate that policy (which they agreed to upfront when they signed up for the membership) should simply take their money somewhere else. There are plenty of stores that don't check your receipt and items at the door to pick from.

That's a badass move right there. Sadly, I am a sheep at Costco.

Next time you have this problem you should consider buying a highlighter and scribbling a bit on the receipt. It's not a perfect solution, but it's just crazy enough to work.

So wuap DID agree to having his receipt checked and he refuses to uphold his end of the bargain. Lol @ southern honor.

Wuap should have requested a Spanish membership agreement so he could understand.

I have never had my receipt and items checked at Wally's.
