It's a fascinating dynamic. What he didn't mention is that Ally Isom was campaign manager for Shurtleff in that campaign. Not really relevant, except to point out that she's now an LDS church spokeswoman. That same year a non-practicing LDS, from what I understand, trounced a stereotypical Utah Mormon. Matheson then held on to his seat for the last six elections against a lot of lds republicans, including Swallow. This was even after he was gerrymandered. That said, I don't think he could win a statewide election. The political winds in Utah have just shifted too much.

Shurtleff is such a moron. I don't understand what he thinks he is going to accomplish by holding a press conference to rail against Sim Gill when everyone knows Troy Rawlins and other Republicans have been supporting this, including the Republican house and the Lieutenant Governor's office. Then he claims the FBI barged into his house and handcuffed him, when there is video of him walking out of his house without handcuffs on. His attorney needs to tell him to shut his mouth. The more he talks, the more guilty he looks.
